We just got our first engagement check...for $50 and we just opened out first ever joint account! Eeeehh such big things on the horizon for us, I love it, but it's scary!

Not at all! Just bring your license and make sure you know your SSN b/c you will need it to open the account. It's a good idea to open one. My FH and I are going to contirbute $25 each to it every paycheck in addition to any checks that we get from people.

FH and I made one after our engagement party. It makes it so much easier to see how much you have and need for the wedding or whatever your using it for!

awesome, thank you!! my mom yelled at me last night because she called and i told her we still didn't open an account so we have a pile of checks laying on our kitchen table...she told us to at least 'hide them in a coat or something!'

Still need to do this. FI has been saying we need to for a couple of months now just havent gotten around to it. We still haven't had an E-paty so we only have 2 checks plus whatever money we are planning on putting in. Just another thing on our giant to-do list. Congrats on yours! Also, my local bank branch is closing so I'm thinking of changing banks anyway, I might just open my new personal account at the same bank we open our joint so that I can link them up. I'm horrible with money and numbers. FI will be the bill payer. LOL
