WE GOT THE CALL!

we were accepted for the show!!!!

the question is... do we/i want to do it???

FH says he'll do whatever I want...

Im not sure about it!!!

for those who dont know...

we'd have to get married by july 2010
they give us 2 wedding planners
and a small amount of money
(very small amount)

FH got the call, cause I was at work...I have to call her back tomorrow with my questions

I don't want the show to cause us to lose focus of our wedding..and I dont want our wedding to turn into a big production

they told FH that they would only be filming us for 3 or 4 days total...but we would start planning immediately

what would YOU do??

get married in 4 months, with the hopes of saving money due to booking last minute dates...and having the show bargain with vendors??

or skip it..wait the year, year and a half and do it the traditional way?


For me its more about saving the money...not so much about the publicity or being on TV, I really could care less about it

Wow! That's a tough one! Personally, I would be miserable if I had to plan my wedding in 4 months. I like taking my time and plan out all of the details, but that's just me!

You should do whatever will make you and your FH happiest! Good luck!!

I would do it since you'll have the help of the wedding planners to book things asap. Plus, it seems like fun and a once in a lifetime thing to do! FH would never go for it though.

But you have to be the type to not be worried about the details and give the planners the freedom to make decisions. If you like going with the flow and have the money to do it in 4 months, why not?

i think it depends on your taste. if you think you cant have the wedding you dream of this quickly then i wouldnt do it.

your wedding is a once in a lifetime event (we pray!)
and you need to make sure its everything youve always dreamed.

Or if having your dream wedding was never that important then i'd do it. If the amount of money they were giving you, plus what you have saved is do-able. You also dont want to dig yourself into a huge hole of debt when you do have the option to save for the next year.

If I were in this situation, even though we'd be saving money I still wouldn't be able to do it because we do not have enough saved to pay for even half of the wedding we're looking to have right now. So even with discounts because of last minute and haggling from the network, I don't think we could afford it.

So you can either pay for most of your wedding up front with a small budget fromt he show and discounted vendors OR stick to your plan and pay more but save for it and pay for it over some time.

I fI had the money up front I'd totally do it. That's more time to save for a down payment on a house, more $$ not spent on the wedding that can go to a house... and you get to BE MARRIED. If there' nothing like school/or licensing exams stopping you, I'd say go for it.

then i worry about regretting not having the full year of planning, like will i regret this later on? that i didnt have the 'real' planning experience?

my mom thinks it crazy...but she will support us..

my mom is more worried about pulling off a bridal shower in such little notice! she is too funny

his parents, we didnt tell, they are more conservative..

I think he would be happy either way...he is seeing the dollar signs and thinking he is going to save alot of money

he is not worried about all the crazy details i am worried about...partly probably because he is a boy!

if there's anyway that you can save $ and still have the wedding you'd want, then i'd do it in 4 months.

U still have not tell us what SHOW it is for...

If it would save A LOT OF MONEY I would do it... But Since my FH and I are trying to save for a HOUSE first and then wedding, then i would not do it....

we decided to get married on xmas eve.. 2008
were adamant on getting married in may 2009 had no idea IF our date would even be available..
We wanted it to be 5/2 cause of our anniversary..

we walked into han 3rd 2009 leonards as a joke- i personally thought.. there is NO WAY this place is available on our date.. and its definately out of budget..
not only was it available- we got the DEAL of a lifetime because what other crazy couple would walk in and book that date.. and plan a wedding in 4 months
YES you will DEFINATELY get a BARGAIN for planning in such a short period of time..
FYI.. our starting price at leonards for a sunday in may evening wedding started at under 60 bucks pp..ended up slightly more because of our add ons..
we booked TP, Camelot, Burtons and was very satifsfied with prices and service.

In the end- just have FUN and you will see..it will all fall into place..it CAN happen.

ditto.. otherwise its hard to advise you on what to do.. since you, FH and family know all the details, im sure you will make the best decision and go with your guts!!

no matter what choice you choose, you will be MARRIED!

Congratulations on being selected for the show!! I'm so excited for you!!

So long as you can have your dream wedding and have it done the way you want it done, I would probably go ahead and do the show.

How important is the whole planning process to you? Is it a significant amount of money you will save?
Personally, if I can get married and have a place to live tomorrow, then I'd get married. This whole wedding planning and drama is annoying the heck out of me already.

If you haven't done this already, you and FH should make a list of every question and concern you have and discuss it with the show's producer. You don't wanna kick yourself later and regret this opportunity.
