I am numb. Early this morning we had to rush my dog to the emergency room because she was having difficulty breathing. My mom wanted to bring her to her regular vet, but at midnight they obviously werent open and I couldnt watch my beloved baby's suffering for much longer. Needless to say, at the emergency hospital they took xrays to see what could be causing her respiratory issues. The vet came in and said she didnt have good news at all. My dog had cancer. You could see on the xray that it was EVERYWHERE. She also told me that she would not be recovering from this, that it had spread all over her lungs, stomach and chest cavity and that was leaving her having trouble breathing.
It was almost cruel to let her live this out. The vet said that eventually she would just suffocate to death. And that it would happen soon.
So after I called home and told my family the news, we all decided that we were going to have to put her to sleep.
I cant get the images of the ordeal out of my head and I cant believe after 9 years of her being such an amazing, good dog, that she's gone. What an early morning.

I'm so so sorry for your loss! I know how hard it is- I had the same situation with my dog 2 months ago. The only thing that made me feel better was knowing that I did the right thing by her. It's a hard but important decision and a completely unselfish act to make sure they don't suffer more than they already have. Remember all the good times you had with your dog and you'll slowly start feeling a little better.

I am so sorry for your ordeal. It is extremely tough losing a pet. They are a part of your family. My heart goes out to you and your family. It may take time for your heart to heal but one day it will. Just remember the joy she brought to your family.

I actually have tears in my eyes for you....I cant imagine doing that!! My cuz did it last month with her shepard - same thing as your puppy..... I will have all you guys in my prayers....

Oh my goodness - I know exactly what you are going through - I had to put down my dog (my baby) after having him for 17years - I got him as a 10th bday gift. He had cancer too and I couldn't bare him dying alone since he was with me through everything - I was in the room with him the entire time. If you need anything let me know!!

We just lost our beloved dog of 10 years to a sudden and fast moving illness, so I absolutely feel your pain. Take comfort in knowing that your selfless decision spared her from further suffering and pain. That being said, I am tremendously sorry for your loss.

I can't even imagine what you went through. My dad is suffering from an illness and my little guy keeps him company and is very protective of him. He also always lets us know if something is wrong with my dad. Saved his life twice! they aren't just animals but a member of the family. I will pray for you and your family. I'm sorry to hear your dad has MS.

im sooooooo sorry. FM me if you need to talk. I know exactly what your going through. aLMOST 2 years agp we had a cavalier king charles spaniel. We had problems since we got him and he couldnt breathe on his own. The vet said if we didt put him down then it would only get worse as he got older ( he was only 3). Putting him down was the worst experiance, i cried more for him then any other family member. The only thing i can say to you is hang in there it will get easier. We are all here for youif you need to talk or vent
