I am numb. Early this morning we had to rush my dog to the emergency room because she was having difficulty breathing. My mom wanted to bring her to her regular vet, but at midnight they obviously werent open and I couldnt watch my beloved baby's suffering for much longer. Needless to say, at the emergency hospital they took xrays to see what could be causing her respiratory issues. The vet came in and said she didnt have good news at all. My dog had cancer. You could see on the xray that it was EVERYWHERE. She also told me that she would not be recovering from this, that it had spread all over her lungs, stomach and chest cavity and that was leaving her having trouble breathing.
It was almost cruel to let her live this out. The vet said that eventually she would just suffocate to death. And that it would happen soon.
So after I called home and told my family the news, we all decided that we were going to have to put her to sleep.
I cant get the images of the ordeal out of my head and I cant believe after 9 years of her being such an amazing, good dog, that she's gone. What an early morning.

My heart goes out to you. We had to put my childhood dog to sleep when I was 18 in similar circumstances. I know how you feel, it was awful. I love animals and honored her memory by adopting a dog last year.

i'm so sorry. i know what it feels like. i had to put my poodle down at 13 years old cause he had a tumor in his stomach.

oh my god.. i read that and cried because i know how i feel about my dog and i've been through it with another family dog.. and oooo I just want to give you biiiig virtual hugs........ I am praying for her!!!!!!! but just remember you guys did the right thing... as hard as it is.... it took me along time to realize that we did the right thing with our Princess, 6 years ago.... but we would never want them to suffer...

I know I am not the only one impacted in my family. We're all just in shock I think.
I keep thinking of my dad who has MS and he would sit around all day long with the dog while we're all at work watching his tv shows. She was like his buddy. Seeing my dads eyes tearing up last night was tough. I was up until 3 am and had to call into work today. I just couldnt imagine sitting at work all depressed and on no sleep.

Omg! I am so sorry to hear that. I am a dog lover and I am a true believer that no family is complete without a dog. I am so sorry for your loss. I know what it feels like to lose a dog that has been a part of your life for so very long. My heart goes out to you! I hope you and your family can get through this together!
