We have a new dress code in the office & I am NOT amused!
So, we were just told that there will be no more jeans on Friday! I can't believe this! I understand that AE's shouldn't be wearing jeans because they have client contacts all the time, but the designers and writers, on Fridays? Come on!!! I totally don’t understand the purpose behind this policy! I loved wearing jeans on Friday, it was one day of the week when I didn’t have to think about what to wear! Jeans and turtleneck and I am out the door!
I am upset! Does anyone else have that rule imposed in their office?

we are never allowed to wear jeans - EVER And I never deal with external clients. So I feel your pain.

I'm right there with you - I have to wear a suit every day...just to sit behind my desk at a computer. Makes no sense!!!

I am so sorry. I am in a creative field too and some of my coworkers wear jeans everyday. I know that the sales dept is not really allowed, but everyone else wears jeans, sweatshirts, sneakers...
I'm sorry. Are khakis acceptable? How about casual pants?

My company tried to ban BLUE jeans in the office for a while. So people wore black jeans, green jeans, orange jeans....LOL
It lasted almost 2 years but the owners didn't follow it and it filtered down until they finally decided it was a stupid rule.

I heard that my office had a no BLUE jean rule as well. But I don't own black jeans (I hate how they fade) so I tossed that rule out the window. It's been over a year and no one has said anything so I'll keep wearing them.
I would be soooo upset if they told me I couldn't wear jeans on Fridays.

That stinks! We wear jeans on fridays. One week we had a client coming in the office so we all had to wear suits. So I know what it would feel like not to wear jeans! I decided to wear leather pants to work today instead of jeans. I wasn't sure how my boss would react. She loves them, she told me that she has two pairs at home! I can't imagine having to wear a suit everyday!! Hopefully they will realize their mistake and go back to jeans for employee satisfaction and morale!

Oooooh, I just remembered another part of our dress code I hate! In the summer, the office has 'casual days' on M,W,F. You can wear shorts, capri pants, whatever. The stipulation is that if you choose to participate in casual day, you have to pay $1/day. Then at the end of the summer, the casual day pot gets donated to charity. However, I am not allowed to participate in ANY casual day, so not only do I not get to wear jeans EVER, I also don't get the opportunity to donate to charity. WTF???

We have casual day, but apparently that does not include jeans. Sorry, but casual to me means jeans and comfortable shoes. So, I defy the rules! Screw them! I'm wearing jeans today and I must say I look very presentable . That's all that should matter!

Could be worse - you could bring back business suits. But I feel your pain. I wear business suits M-Th and business casual on Friday (never jeans). Meanwhile I am in IT and most companies IT is the most dressed down group in the company...our PC support people have to carry computers and crawl under desks wearing suits - it is the worst...

At my job even the mail people have to wear a suit, , and the IT poeple who lug around computers all day and get under the desks....how ridiculous is that????????

We used to be able to wear jeans on Friday, but my bosses also stopped it since some people did not dress appropriately

NO jeans of ANY type as ANY part of your apparel.
No Jeans of ANY color as pants No Jean dresses No Jean vests No Jean coats. NOTHING
They've really not come hard on us for the dresses and vests.. but heaven help you if you come in with red jeans or a jean coat!

Just wanted to add.. (no offense to anyone here) that FLIP FLOPS or backless shoes are SOOOO Unprofessional and I WISH my office was more strict about them!
Nothing like having a meeting with an important client in a conference room with everyone all dressed nicely and you hear from the hall... Flip… flop…. Flip… flop (or) Slap… sluck (the sound when the shoe comes off a sweaty heel).. slap.. sluck.. then that person walks in and all I keep thinking is.. OH my god.. its my kid sister coming into class!

ahhh that sucks!! i call fridays 'free breakfast and jeans day' .. i swear it's the only thing that gets me through the week! i can't imagine if they took it away!

We are 100% business casual. That means no jeans, t shirts, sports shoes or shorts.
I think a casual professional atmosphere is important. It sets the tone for the day. Work is different than play and I like to dress accordingly.

I would go nuts. I wear jeans almost everyday! I would have to go out and buy all new clothes if I couldn't! Although I feel for you guys- I understand how hard it is. DH has to wear full suits everyday of the week! Even in the hot summer on the subway!

Same here.. we are always 'business casual' every day, but that also means NO JEANS EVER (even on Fridays). That's ok, just not having to wear pantyhose and a skirt all the time is enough reward for me!
That said, during the summertime people take this to a NEW LOW .. I love capris and sundresses as much as the next person, but some people just look like they came off the beach. I know when its 95 and humid that its the most comfortable thing to wear, but when clients are in the office it is highly unprofessional, IMO...

LMAO! I couldn't agree more! I think sandals are OK, but the flip flops in the office are just the worst! Sorry but some people just cannot walk in them to begin with!
