We lost another house.

We offered $5,000 above asking.
Another couple offered approx. $15,000 above asking - CASH.

Our luck *****!!!

I'm giving up lol...gonna let FH do the research - doing the wedding plans is enough ! argh!

So....I'm hitting the gym now. Gotta refocus my frustrations.

OMG I am so sorry....I would do the research for ya lol.....For a price hahahaha

That would be a great side business for me. I could look up houses for people that get stressed out doing it, and then send them a list daily or weekly or what ever.

Sorry you lost the house, Dont give up...I am positive there is a house out there for you

Don't worry. I keep telling you that you will find the right one for you, and you really will.

Just as an example, one of the houses we bid on in the last few weeks and lost out on after we were out-bid for over the asking price is back on the market. Obviously that deal fell through. Now we have gone to contract on a house we really love and I have no regrets or second-thoughts.

Don't get crazy. Be calm , positive and soldier on in search of another one

Sorry to hear that. You'll find the house that's meant to be yours. We matched the bid of another family which was over the asking price ($6K over), and we got it even with the other family coming back and saying they would pay ALL CASH!! Not to brag in any way, but the house is not a starter home by any means. How insane is that?!! I can't even imagine. Anyways, the couple liked us better and felt we would be a better fit for the house. I truly believe if it's meant to be then it will happen. Don't lose hope! Keep looking and good luck!

Don't give up, you'll find something even better. I know how fustrating it is, we're in the middle of trying to agree on a closing date-- it's not fun. Hang in there.

Don't give up! We bid on two houses we lost prior to getting the one we have now and its so much better then the first two. Me and DH always say how lucky we are not to have won those first two.

It takes time but in the end you will find a house you love. I'll be sending you house vibes.

15K over? Where did you get the info? I would not trust any info until the closing has been officially published (I have been told many a number by realtors only in the end for it not to be true).

We have lost a few but don't regret it...keep plugging away!

Re: We lost another house.

We needed to go WAY over the asking price to get our house. What we (and others) were willing to pay for this particular house at this particular time just happened to be more than what they were asking. Many times, the asking price turns out to be more than what folks will pay, but more and more often nowadays, realtors try to convince sellers to underprice rather than overprice their homes, in order to create a sort of feeding frenzy among a larger pool of buyers.

Long story short...you really can't go by asking price; it's just a number that a realtor and homeowner created based on their best guesses of the current market. Be thankful that you're not in an even more competitive market...my manager out in northern CA just lost out on another home bid - they bid $150K over the list price, there were more than 30 offers, and they were only 7th highest. The house ultimately went to someone who bid $250K over list. And no, we're not talking about a $4-5M home.

totally agree, however i have seen a current trend of 'under list' where list is 'on the mark' all things considered. last year these same homes i mention would be going for list plus. as rates start to rise i would expect (and hope) to see more of this...our hunt has been so frustrating!
