'We may stop by'???

Original post by MissingTheBGene

Um, okay. I received two NO responses from people, who later tell me, oh yes, but they may be able to stop by sometime later that night. What the heck does that mean and how do I count this? As a yes, as a no? I've never heard of this before. I wasn't aware that there were gray areas with RSVPs, either you're coming or you're not.

Wow. That's a new level of annoying.
I'd just count them as no. And if they mention again that they're stopping by, I'd say, 'Don't bother.'

Really! That one wins... Unreal.

Bosses.....

I would tell them you need a yes or no answer. I mean, this is a wedding!!! But I guess you can just count them as no and remember to ask later as you suggested.

I'll tell you why they are doing it: they don't want to cough up the money for a gift... that has got to be the most disrespectful thing i've heard in a long time...

i don't know which is worse-- that, or when a friend of mine told me that a girl he works with came up to him in the middle of the day in the office randomly (he barely knows her, hi and bye and that's it) and just hands him a response card that comes INSIDE the wedding invite FOLDED up--looked like it had been used or something and is like, my wedding is on 'this' date, can you come?? mind you the wedding was like two weeks from THAT date...

i just don't know how people do it!! i would count those people as a no and i would tell them that they can 'stop by' the church (if you are having it in a church or outside location--if the ceremony is at the hall, forget it) but that's IT... there is no stopping by the RH, you either say yes or no and if it's a no you are not in the building!!

unbelievable!! i'm so sorry they did that to you!!

I would count them as a no.

AND I would say to them 'Thanks. I appreciate the sentiment, but I can't really have 'maybes''

HOW RUDE as Stephanie Tanner would say!!

sorry, too. If they don't make it more clear when the final count is due I would count them as a NO & not even bothering asking if there coming or not...it's not fair to you to have to pay for a maybe...

Hey... that's a way to save some money. Maybe I'll just ask all of our guests to not eat and 'just stop by!'

Oh they are my bosses, they said they had something to do that day but if they had time they would stop by. Gee, thanks.

Wow, they are something else, as if you are telling them about a BBQ or something!

That is so rude. It's like they're saying 'Well, it's at the bottom of my list but I may get around to it'. Whatever!!!! I'd tell them to forget it. Tell them you gave their seats to people that care about you.

As a side note: Bosses are SO fun. I am friendly with my female boss, so I invited her, but we work for HER father, so I kind of had to invite him, so I do.

I sit in the desk RIGHT OUTSIDE HIS OFFICE and he can't think to RSVP AT ALL?!? I just counted him as a no when I heard him making other weekend plans. Not that I care b/c I hate him.

The worst and most inconsiderate. You have to ff up and make sure whether they are coming or not, before you give your final count, phone those inconsiderate clods and politley tell them you need a final headcount are you coming or not?
argh. i swear i think some ppl were raised on a farm.

i would be concerned with doing this, only cause they may tell you yes we will come and then you have 2 people to pay for that in reality MAY show up.. if they show up and they were no's then let them 'stop' by and they wont have a seat they can just mingle... I can not believe someone replied like that!...

WHAT PLANET ARE THEY FROM????

I would think this person cannot or does not want to burden you for the cost of the meal but may want to come for some dancing and to congratulate you.

OR they are just flaky inconsiderate people.

I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and think it's the former. definitely do not save them a spot.

So tell them 'Maybe there will be a seat for you'

I would count them as a NO and then ask them a few weeks before when you hand in your final count. I know its *****, unless you want to be a B*tch like me and demand they give you a definite answer.

UGH!!!! I hate people!

Sounds like the couple that responded to our wedding 'well, we don't know yet.....IF we come we'll bring the baby (newborn) to the ceremony, but probably not the reception'

First of all, where are the manners??? If I HAD to have a newborn at my wedding, it certainly would NOT be at the ceremony!!

People are really unbelievable - just say that unfortunately you need a definite yes or no because your catering hall needs an accurate count.
