We tried to let him CIO last night...
And it didn't work. It broke my heart, but after 70 minutes, I couldn't take it anymore. I went in there, and there he was standing in his crib staring right at the door waiting for me. I felt like the most horrible mother alive! We just don't know what to do? I've feel like I've tried every technique out there. I really thought by 9.5 months he'd be sleeping! For those of you girls that have babies sleeping through the night, you are sooooo lucky! Just imagine how you felt in beginning getting up every 2 hours to feed the baby. How exhausted you were... well, that's how I still feel after 9.5 months. I'm also working fulltime since he was 6 weeks old. I really need some help with this! It can't be healthy for any of us! I haven't slept more than a couple of hours at a time for a year now! My body just can't take it anymore. There's got to be something we can do! My husband can't really help throughout the night because Caiden does not want him at night. He just wants mommy, also he works 2 jobs, so I know he's already tired. Please... I need some help!!!

Not that this is a good habit but it may be a good step for you. What if you go lay down on the floor or sit in a chair in his room like you are going to go to sleep? Maybe just having you in the room will help.

I know just how you feel! My son didn't start sleeping through the night until he was like 10 months old. I did that whole thing to with trying to let him cry himself to sleep, but like you after over an hour I had to go to him! He could barely breath! I still remember this and he is 6 now! I had to cut out all naps and feed him right before bed - he was so tired - eventually - he started sleeping for longer stretches of time. I think by the time he was 10 months he slept for 4 hours at a time then that turned into 5 hours then slowly but surely it got longer.Hang in there, is he taking naps in the afternoon?
I completely understand what you are going through - I felt like I had permanent bags under my eyes - I was exhausted all the time. It gets to you after a while.

Melissa- You need to read about Ferberizing. It is not just CIO...there are methods to help this work much better. Go, buy the book and read it. You will have more tools to help you that way. Also, have you tried calling a lacation consultant about stopping night feedings? She may have some wonderful ideas. Have you spoken to the doctor?
You cannot just stop him cold turkey. There are ways to make this work for both of you but you must do a bit of reading and researching first.
