Wearing engagement ring after marriage?

Original post by Smiley7092

I just had a question. I've seen many people after they are married and they no longer wear their engagement ring. I always wondered why they would just stop wearing it? I would want to wear my engagement ring AND my wedding band together! Am I alone here?

It will probably be the last piece of jewlery besides the wedding band that he gets me so I am never taking it off.

That is the traditional (american) way that most women follow. In Europe, alot of women wear their band on the left and engagement on the right....not sure why?

I wear both, but sometimes I just wear my wedding band.....I don't know why but I just do. Joe really doesn't care as long as I wear something

I might get them attached so they are just one ring.

I will probably usually only wear my band because:

1. I am a healthcare worker and dont want to loose it because i have to take it off to wach my hands before seeing each patient, plus the area is poor and i feel uncomfortable flashing diamonds to people who can barely afford to live plus theft is extrememly common in the area.......

2. whenever i wear it i scratch someone or myself with it, its painful!

3. when im at home im usually cleaning or something, so i dont want to get lysol on it, lol

no one at work even believes im engaged bc they have never seen the ring, lol, its pretty funny actually. if i had a plain band, i would wear it all the time.

I plan on wearing my band all the time. As for my e-ring, I'm an RN and I don't feel comfortable wearing it to work but I'll wear it at other times.

I plan on wearing my e-ring after we get married and forever. I know a lot of people don't because it doesn't fit anymore.

Wow I didn't realize how many responses my post got! I am def planning on wearing both of mine! I know the e-ring probably cost more than my wedding band will and I just love it so I'm going to find a wedding band that matches it and wear them both on my left hand!!!!!!

i plan on wearing both BUT i made sure that my wedding band will have enough bling for me if i ever want to wear it alone i picked something that compliments my ring but also looks great alone. i also might get a thin plain white gold band too - just in case im doing something or going somwhere where i dont want my diamond rings to be damaged. i really like the look of plain bands as well so it will be nice to have one.
