Wearing shoes for the first time...

When is the right time for babies to wear shoes? My son is almost 9 months now, and loves to walk around when you hold his hands, and he loves to pull himself up. Everyone is telling me that now is the time to get him sneakers. I thought you're suppose to wait until they're 12 months? Is their a right time, or can you get them at anytime? Thanks!

I was told to get them when the child starts walking.

I would suggest that you get a good pair of shoes. (Stride rite)

It is suggested to wait until they walk 2-3 steps on their own. Barefoot is best to help the arches develop in the feet. Even when they start walking, you only need the shoes for protection from the elements so keep him barefoot in the house.

my pediatrician said that she should remain barefoot for as long as I can keep her barefoot because it was best for her to learn her balance while beginning to walk. Obviously she needed shoes when we went out but she was always barefoot in the house
