Wedding at Chateau La Mer(long)

I went to a wedding last night at Chateau La Mer. Overall I would say they do a very good job. The wedding was outside but I would suggest that if it is an iffy weather day you would be better off indoors. The area where they hold the weddings is right on the water and everyone was freezing. It didn't rain until about an hour after the ceremony, but it was still very damp and windy(not good at all for the hair). The cocktail hour(inside thankfully) was excellent with plenty of food, all of which was delicious. The room is large with lots of seating. It is also very well decorated with a view out to the water. Dinner was good although the salad was a bit on the wilty side. I had the chateau briand which was very tasty and tender. Good choice. The wedding cake was outstanding, even though it had been sitting out throughout the evening. There were only 8 people to a table so there was more than enough room for everyone even with a group between 150-200. Service was good, napkins folded, water glasses refilled immediately and dinner served to everyone in less than 15 minutes. My only complaints...the photographer(I wish I knew who he was and I will try to find out)kept pulling the bride and groom out of the room to take pictures. I would say they spent less than half of the reception even in the room. This makes me feel better about my decision to take photos before my wedding. I want to enjoy my own party. The DJ (Variety)was okay, but not great. Music was so loud that at the end of the night I had a sore throat from yelling just to talk to the person next to me. Also, he kept asking for the bride and groom to come out on the floor to lead off a dance, when they weren't even in the room. But by the end of the night everyone was dancing, even to the Electric Slide and the Macarena. If anyone is getting married there or thinking of it I would say it is a good choice. Any questions let me know.

Where is it? I've heard of it, but am new to Long Island (Long Beach). Any idea how much it cost? Thanks for the info - sounds like a good place to consider!

re:Marnles

It is in Lindenhurst right on the Great South Bay. It is at the end of Wellwood Avenue and pretty easy to get to. I am not sure of the cost so you would have to contact them. Hope this helps.

Thanks Wendy for the update. I am having my wedding and reception at Chateau La Mer on July 7. Hopefully the weather would be a lot warmer for my outdoor wedding. :-)
