Girls looking for ones with diamonds - how much are you expecting to spend and where are you buying them?
Just read the post on Erings and he paid A LOT more than most girls were describing for my ring......now I am worried about getting the band.

I've gotten a few quotes from different jewelers. They're all in the $900 range. Unfortunately the quotes are higher because I can't wear white gold, so if you're looking for platinum that is the quote I got!

Re: Wedding bands
Since mine will be custom-made to match my E-ring.....with the same quality stones (24-26 in total), we are guesstimating AT LEAST $5,000 for my band alone. I want FH's to have some bling on his too....not sure how it's gonna work for him though. I'm guesstimating his will be at least $2,000 (guy's are always so lucky! lol )

wow, that sounds like a lot! my quote for FH was $300, he just wants a plain titanium ring. Have you looked into where you will be getting your band customized? $5000 sounds like a lot

Well, FH's ring really was a round-about. He's not sure what he wants yet, since he hasn't even looked lol As far as my ring, I'm going off of what my setting alone costs, adding some more for the additional diamonds they'll need to add (to fill in that gap where the diamond is on my E-ring) and for whatever they are going to charge since it has to be made. We are going to our jeweler to have it done.....I wouldn't count on someone else to give me the stones that he chose for me.

Thanks for the info. FH will probably look at rings for the first time when we go have mine made.

Re: Wedding bands
We're actually going tomorrow to design my ring. It'll be custom made to match my e-ring, so it'll have 6 diamonds total (2 baguette, 4 princess) and in platinum. We don't have a final price yet, but the estimate was between $2K and $2500. Other platinum rings w/ diamonds that I saw that looked only OK w/ my e-ring were about the same price, so that's why I'm doing custom.

It makes sense if you already have a jeweler you trust. If you do want to look around just to get a quote, try the tri county flea market. The quotes where very good, maybe you can use those prices to haggle with your own jeweler

White gold is much cheaper than platinum. I don't know how true this is, but when I was in DC, this woman randomly started asking me questions when I was at a bar waiting for my friend and she claimed she was a jeweler. She said that white gold is stronger than platinum.

I've heard that too! supposely white gold is stronger because its harder...platinum is much softer and can scratch easier...at least this is what i've heard
