Wedding Bar tab

Has anyone ever had a wedding where the bar was charged by the amount of drinks consumed and then had to be paid at the end of the night?
I think in Mass. they need to do this. I'm trying to figure out a realistic amount that it would be, so I'm not shocked at the end of the night.

Re: Wedding Bar tab

I have no idea how much that could add up to, but if your friends and family are anything like mine, you might as well take a secong mortgage out on your house now! lol!
My hall actually said they had never gone through so many beers. I had a little under 200 guests and we went through 800 bottles of beer. And that's not even taking into account all the wine and alcohol that was consumed. If yiu guess that they charge $3 a beer that would be $2400 just in beer!

Re: Wedding Bar tab

That is what I am thinking... but that is how the place I want to have my wedding at does it. A lot of our friends can drink!

Re: Wedding Bar tab

Did they at least give you a price list so you can know what you're getting yourself into. They may only charge you by the case for beer and by the bottle for liquor and wine, which would make it much less $$ than if you paid by the glass. If you're really stuck on the hall I would look into the details, otherwise I would just keep looking.

Re: Wedding Bar tab

The place said they would be charging by drink. $4.50/beer, $7.50/Drink and I'm not sure about the wine glass price. It just seems like it could really add up.

Re: Wedding Bar tab

WOW!!! Those are insane prices, where the heck is this? A nightclub in Manhattan?
If they're going to charge you per drink, they need to do a lot better than those prices or you're going to be paying an obscene bar tab at the end of the night.

My wedding would have gone through $3600 in beer alone.

Re: Wedding Bar tab

They add in a charge of $50/head as an estimate at the beginning of the night She said you could raise it and pay more per head for the alcohol. It isn't in Manhattan it is at East Hampton Point. It is really beautiful, but I think this may kill it for us.
