Wedding Cake Question

If one's venue includes the cake in their package, does anyone know what most bakeries' 'basic' model is without having to pay up charges. I have the choice between Black Forest and Audrey's in Sayville. Thanks!

Wedding Cake Question

We are getting married at Westbury Manor and our cake is outsourced to Francesca's Bakery. The cake that is included is a buttercream cake. I believe that is the standard where as if you wanted intricate detailing and fondant it would cost extra.

Re: Wedding Cake Question

My mom got remarried this summer and she got to pick a cake from Audrey's. Here is a picture of what she selected. And the cake was delicious! This cake is an the smaller side because she only had 50 people.

Wedding Cake Question

Flowerfield uses Audreys. I've tasted their cakes and they were really yummy. I've heard a lot of great things about them. They have a binder with pictures of their cakes and if there is an upcharge and how much more it is.

Wedding Cake Question

Thank you, gals! I am doing all of my planning from L.A., so I'm not able to swing by the bakeries. Wanted to be prepared before I started calling/e-mailing.

Re: Wedding Cake Question

Black Forest's basic cake is buttercream or whipped cream frosting, choice of a lot of flavors and fillings. We had their basic cake with our Bourne Mansion package and it was fabulous! It is true that the decorating options are not crazy fancy unless you want to pay more - so it will look like a traditional wedding cake rather than something on Cake Boss. But as long as you are ok with that, it was delicious - I don't even like bakery cake and I loved ours!

Wedding Cake Question

I don't know about other venues, but Swan Club does their own cakes, and I haven't really heard any good reviews about them. We're booking with them, but will go with SweetKarma Cakes for our cake. The contract with the Swan Club comes with a cake, but we're gonna see if they'll substitute Viennese platters if we forego the cake. We haven't signed a contract yet, so this is all up for negotiation.

We actually added fondant snowflakes around the cake with silver dusting so we had to pay $150 but we figured for $150 to have the cake exactly how we want when it is included isn't bad at all.

Thanks! I have been trying to reach a designer from Black Forest over the phone. Since I can't come in to look at their books, we'll see how this goes...
