Ok, so some of you may have seen me post the cake we wanted. It was chocolate ganache with chocolate leaves...anyway, when we went for our tasting in October we brought a pic of the cake and the BM indicated that it would be an upgrade from the ones included of about $300...no problem, FH really wanted the cake so we said fine. She said to give her the pic as we got closer so she could show the baker and give us an exact price. FH went to the hall Friday and dropped of the the same picture we showed her in October. She calls us a couple hours later and says that it's a $2,000 cake and she can't do it!! But by all means, we can find a baker on our own to do it and then she'll upgrade our mini-viennese to a full-vienesse. Ok...issue #1...she said the cake would be an upgrade and now all of a sudden it can't be done? issue #2...if they can't do the cake I don't want a full viennese, I'd much rather the credit be applied to my pp cost. issue #3 she was sni8ppy with FH on the phone.
Grrrrr.....just had to vent. I am so sad that so far I've had nothing but complaints about my hall, I posted a few weeks ago on the '04 board about something else that really annoyed us.....sigh........

Wow, that's insane. I'm sorry that happened to you! Call them and tell them that you'd rather have the price put towards the pp cost and see what they say. And then get an independent baker to do the cake. You can try Craigslist.org - cake designers post on there often.
Good luck!

Soooorrryy you are going thru so many problems with your hall
You know what it sounds like to me?? It sound like she just doesn't want to do it!! Like either it's too much work, not enough profit, or she just doesn't know how. They should instead (of the viennesse) give you the money so you can put it toward the cake you are going to have to go get elsewhere!
Don't worry it WILL all work out somehow!!

You should call and speak to whoever you originally spoke to who said it would be a $300 upgrade. Ask them why there is all of a sudden a problem with the cake when a few months ago it wasn't a big deal. If they can't do the cake than you need to insist they subtract that money from your pp cost.

that's so annoying. maybe the ganache is more expensive that just chocolate frosting and she just misunderstood? eitherway, $2k is RIDICULOUS! you should complain.
