Wedding colors??

Wedding colors??

I am most likely getting married in June, and if not June it will be one of the summer months. I had always thought I would get married in Sept or Oct, but that is not an option anymore considering I will still be in school at that point, and don't want the added stress of having a wedding while I am going to graduate school. Now I have always dreamed of having a wedding with my primary color being red. Red BM dresses, red roses, etc, but my freind told me the other day that she doesn't think red is appropriate for a summer wedding, and that I should pick something a little lighter.

I really want red, but I don't want it to look like a winter wedding that I am having in the summer. Do you think that this is an issue?

It's your wedding so if you really want the red you should go for it!! Maybe you can have red as your primary color and then have champagne, whites, or other light colors to soften the look.

I think it's fine to have a darker color in the summer. I'm getting married in the spring and I am going back and forth between having my girls wear light green or chocolate brown. The chocolate brown is darker..but I think it looks soo pretty with a pink sash and pink flowers (I'm having cherry blossoms)..so it's a similar situation to yours! I still haven't decided on what color I'm using..I love both!

I like the idea of trying to soften it up a little bit with the champagne or other lighter colors. I think I will look into that!!

I love the idea of the chocolate brown dresses with a pink sash. The contrast between the two would look great.

I think you can do whatever colors you want! I know someone that did a wine color for her bm dresses in June..who cares..also a July wedding & the dresses were red..no worries..If you have alwayd dreamed of Red I say go for it!

I don't think it's an issue at all.

Red is always a great choice for weddings.

I do however agree with some of the other posters. maybe add a secondary color to brighten it up, like a champagne or whites.

As long as you're not just using all dark reds I think it will look fantastic!

I can't see why you cant use red. I wouldn't pick a cranberry or very deep red only because that would look a little more fall-ish. I think Red is one of those colors you can have any time of year and it will work.

I say stick to your red color- You dont want to settle for something else and be unahppy with it later on. It is your wedding- do what will make you happy.

I totally don't agree with the whole 'you have to have certain colors for certain season' ... it's your wedding... you can whatever colors you want whenever you want. Go for red!

Go with red!

I was a bridesmaid in a July wedding. We wore red dresses. They were strapless, so that made them look less 'fall/wintery'. Red is a sharp color. It made the party look very elegant. Also, the pictures from the summer wedding looked beautiful!

Thanks for your opinions girls!!!
I'm definately going with the red, but I am going to use the advice to use whites or lighter colors to lighten it up a little bit.
