STOP right there lady!!!!! You guys can totally figure it out! Write everything down and take it one step at a time. You don't need to have all the bells and whistles..there are so many ways to cut cost and still have a fabulous wedding. Let me know if there is anything specific you guys are stressing about and maybe I can help with suggestions!

Honestly, I know what you mean ( to some degree)
Just go to the caribbean and get married on an Island. People will understand

If I had to plan this all over again, I might just do something like that. (ha) !

I have a one year old son so im on a tight budget. If you need any advice im the queen of budget. Where there is a will there is a way. My guestlist is not large only about 80 people but im shopping around and so far so good.

Do what's best for the two of you. Remember that a wedding with all the bells and whistles is nice, but all it really takes to get married is an officiant and a witness -- and that doesn't cost much. There's nothing wrong with eloping or having a small ceremony and then going out to dinner with some friends and family. At the end of the day, the wedding is all about winding up married to the man you love so that you can spend your lives together, with all of the social and legal benefits that marriage affords. It's not worth saddling yourselves with lots of debt -- especially since so many couples fight over money.

If you need to, do something small now. Elope. Marry your FH! You can always have a big vow renewal party in the future.

Maybe you could switch the date? A Sunday afternoon in an off-season month would be significantly cheaper. Or a Thursday, which a lot of people are starting to do.

THIS ans DIY can help a lot. I am still trying to figure out how I will pay this at the end. But it will work out. I got a lot of my vendors for less so if you want info FM me. If not push the date back and you could still have your wedding. Good luck!

Noooooo!!! My date twin cannot cancel her wedding

Give yourself some time to think about things before you do anything rash, you have time still to cancel so hold off for a little and really think things through. I hope things work out but it won't be the end of the world if you have to postpone it a little. We thought about it at one point to ourselves. It will suck but in the end it will be the day you really want when you can afford it. And don't fight with FH, easier said than done, in the end it doesn't help, trust me I know.

I think that you have to remember that the ceremony is the important part. The reception is just a party.

In my opinion, if money is an issue right now, you should not go into debt to have the party. You can always have a party.

You do not want the stress of trying to pay for the wedding having you and your FH to fight.

What if you and your FH get married on the day that is planned and try to move the reception to a year later so that you have an additional year to save money. This way your actual wedding date is what you planned/

Re: wedding cost

to be honest guys... after the fight i had with my grandmother...i'm not sure i even want the big wedding i've always wanted.....one of our family members called to tell her how im begging ppl for money by posting a honey fund.....and she told me i was a disgrace to the family and to remove it right away before i embaress her some more..

Sooooo sorry to hear that. I know it cannot be easy.

If a honey fund is what you and FH decided, don't let others get to you!

But I am sure there is a way for you to get married and have a lovely wedding. You've already put down deposits on the RH, which I'm sure is the big ticket item. See if they can work with you for something smaller. A brunch celebration.

You don't need the fancy limos. You don't need the giant bouquets. All that matters is that you and FH love each other.

And when you're done working through this, you will know you can get through anything together.

OK so that family member is no longer invited! JK
Seriously though, if you want to do a huny fund then do it. Don't forget it is your wedding!!! What if you cut your guest list down? Let things settle for a few days though. I honestly had the biggest bridal meltdown (hence stepping down as BOTW) and was about to cancel everything. I let some time pass, we changed a few things and now it feels right to start planning again.

I see what you mean. It's hard when it's grandparents having such a strong opinion.

You can also have a cocktail reception with cake and appetizers.

Otherwise, if you get married in March, you will save $$$.

What have you booked already?

What Mara said important...a wedding is all about the ceremony, that is the actual. Dont spend a lot on the reception. You can always celebrate later. Or do a destination wedding (that would probably take care of the family member that made the comment to your grandmother)

I hope you don't have to cancel. Affording a wedding is still hard and I still don't think I can even make it but I am hoping for the best! That's horrible what they said about your honeyfund. I have one too and its not a big deal or a way of begging for money. Hope things work out!

This exactly. I'm so sorry to hear about what you're going through. Take a deep breath and give it a few days. Once your head is clear, sit down with your FH and have a talk. Follow your hearts.
