why are you getting married on your wedding date? (it really does just sound funny....i have reworded the sentence 3x's) was it the month you always wanted? cheapest price? etc..??
just wondering why everyone chose to get married when they did...
november was the only month me & fh couldn't find anything wrong with. plus we have quite a few weddings in 2006 so we had to be conscious of them as well when deciding.

Re: wedding date??
FI is a school teacher so it had to be around a vacation week. We didn't want to wait until the summer or later, so it was April or Feb. February 12 is my parent's 40th wedding anniv, so I was pushing for the 11th.
Went to the church, they were available for the 2 dates we wanted. We went to look at WM (2nd place) and it turned they had Feb 11th open because of a cancellation. We loved WM-so we booked it. The rest will be history

Well you're getting married on 11/11...time to make a wish...hope it lasts a lifetime!
We originally picked June 10th, then it was June 30th, and then September 29. However, when we were ready to book September 29th at the WM that date was not available and so therefore, we were offered an even better date which is 9/1...Labor Day weekend Friday.
fh loved the date!! he said this way he will NEVER forget our anniversary. he also tried to convince me to wait until 2011 - this way it would be 11/11/11. i am so glad i am a girl- i will never understand how the other 1/2 thinks....
Yay! We're getting married the same day! I'm a dork but I wanted to get married on my grandparents anniversary which would have been November 10th. He didn't want a Friday so we went with the 11th. He has also said it will make it easier to remember. Ugh, men

Re: wedding date??
I wanted either May, June or September. September 2005 would be two months before his brother's wedding. May 2006 my sister/MOH graduates college So that left us with June 2006. Which sometimes seems so far away and other times feels like it it tomorrow.

Re: wedding date??
I always wanted a summer/July wedding. I chose that exact date because it's the last Saturday of the month and i will go on my honeymoon the first 2 weeks in august. That means that i will really have a month off from work becuase i only work up until the second week in august. i am a speical ed teacher and the second week of august is when the summer session ends so i dont go back to work until after Labor day!

Re: wedding date??
I'm actually getting married on the same day my parents did- 36 years ago. We're getting married at the same time in the same church. I happen to also go to the same shop to get my dress. I like the tradition of it all. But then someone pointed out to me that when they're gone- that day will be bittersweet. I don't want to think about that though.

Re: wedding date??
We didn't want summer or winter because of the hot/cold thing. We figured we'd do Columbus day weekend, but thought Oct. 05 was too close and Oct. 06 was too far away.
Then we found out that April Fools Day was a Saturday. We have unique senses of humor and knew it was perfect!

Re: wedding date??
FH wanted to be married before Christmas. I just wanted a winter wedding b/c of my dress. My dress IMO is for a wiinter wedding, not a summer wedding. So we both got what we wanted...12/03
We had to have a Saturday night and we got the price we wanted. We knew how to talk to them and we talked them down to where we were all happy!

Re: wedding date??
We're getting married in the summer because we both have off from work. The date is also significant because it's my dad's birthday!

WHO AND WHY WOULD SOMEONE EVEN SAY THAT TO YOU? SOME PEOPLE MAKE ME FRIGING LAUGH!!! I WOULD NEVER EVER SAY SOMETHING LIKE THAT TO YOU AND I AM A COMPLETE STRANGER. I think that is so nice that yoU are doing that. YouR parents must be so honored and I kNow you are just as much as they are. It's obvious you admire their relationship!!! That's beautiful. I wish you the best.
And don't lsiten to what that person said. It won't be bitter sweet. It will just as memorable, if not even more!!!!!

Re: wedding date??
He likes square roots (he asked me out on 4/16/02)...he wanted to get engaged on 2/16/04 but things weren't working out for that date....so we got engaged 2/29/04 instead ( had to have a unique number somehow!) and the ring is princess cut that is a perfect square to a hundreth of a millimeter (very rare to find). We wanted to go 9/16 since that too is perfect squares, and late summer, early fall (he works in retail so it falls almost perfectly between two holiday weekends). But it was a lot cheaper to go 9/17, so we said close enough!

Our birthdays are a day apart in October. We wanted our anniversary to be six months later so we ended up in April!

Re: wedding date??
#1 Reason - CHEAPER to get married in the winter.
We wanted a formal, black tie wedding in a Temple. We wanted a large band. We wanted lush (almost over the top) flowers. We wanted to have as many people as we could. By having a winter wedding we are able to do that. Our band is SIGNIFICANTLY less money. Our price per head is also significantly less. And certain things that are 'priced by season' on the menu, we are not paying extra for should we choose as an entree - like Chilean Sea bass and Chateau Briand. Don't get me wrong, this wedding is still going to cost a poop-load of money but we could have easily tacked on about another $15-20K for the same wedding in May.
Since we never had any intentions of taking outside pictures, we could really care less about what is happening outside the day of. The only thing that concerns us is that our guests arrive safely should it snow.
We chose the particular DAY because it is the first Saturday in Presidents week. I am off the following week because I teach and I am TAKING the week after that for our honeymoon. This way I didnt have to ask for too many days off. I teach summer school when most teachers dont and often get married then. I need that money to pay for the wedding.
