why are you getting married on your wedding date? (it really does just sound funny....i have reworded the sentence 3x's) was it the month you always wanted? cheapest price? etc..??
just wondering why everyone chose to get married when they did...
november was the only month me & fh couldn't find anything wrong with. plus we have quite a few weddings in 2006 so we had to be conscious of them as well when deciding.

Re: wedding date??
We originally wanted October, but my brother whined that him and SIL have a wedding to be in September, and it would be too close. Then we picked July, but thought it would be too hot for our HM.
So this left us with April, because I have too many birthdays in May, and I wanted it after tax season was over so that we could use our income tax checks towards the wedding. So that brought us to the weekends of the 23rd and 30th. Well the 30th was available at a lot of halls we went to, and the weather had a better chance of being better, so we stuck with it!

Re: wedding date??
I always dreamed of a winter wedding, so we decided on a Sat night in December. Then we realized the 16th would be the 2nd night of hanukkah, so it really works out. We can incorporate both hanukkah and christmas!

I'm actually getting married on the same day my parents did- 36 years ago. We're getting married at the same time in the same church. I happen to also go to the same shop to get my dress. I like the tradition of it all. But then someone pointed out to me that when they're gone- that day will be bittersweet. I don't want to think about that though.
Your parents love and marriage is a wonderful example to you of what marriage means, so IMO that is a great honor. I am in the same boat, just doing it the day before my parents 40th. My Father died 10 years ago (today ) and so I asked my mom before we decided-Will my getting married on that day be hard for you? She replied that her wedding day is a good memory. Maybe someday your daughter or son will carry on your 'tradition'. Good Luck!

Re: wedding date??
We chose November because my FSIL is getting married in June and we didn't want it to close to her day (it is her day) and we didn't want the cold months, we also didn't want to be engaged for two years...so we kind of didn't have much of a choice.
But I love November and I know it will be beautiful!!!

Major idea:
Menorah centerpieces with poinsettias (sp) around them! (Man am I ever a goofball)

We just lost Dad in July and our wedding is in the year of what would have been their 50th anniversary. I am using my Mothers original wedding band (after I repair it) that has the inscription 'Eternally yours 5-27-56' Remembering a good long marriage on your wedding day is a great way to start yours. One of my very good friends is getting married on their anniversary and I told her it was good luck!

Re: wedding date??
we based our wedding date solely on price...Considering FH & I are paying for the entire wedding ourselves, it had to be feasible! Originally we figured we would be getting married in Jan or Feb..
I credit the BM at Watermill who told us that Friday March 31st was the last day of 'winter' pricing....So FH & I decided that was a perfect day because we could benefit from the pricing & get the chance of beautiful weather!
Now we will be sharing our wedding with our FG who will be turning 3 that day!

Re: wedding date??
We actually both wanted something more in September or early November. However, I go to school so we picked a date that we could have the wedding, and honeymoon, and be back in time for school to start.

Re: wedding date??
wanted summer, since i am a teacher and it is my favorite season.... BUT didnt want it too deep into summer, too hot (although early july can be too- i know) and 4th of july weekend was the best weekend, so our families can make it a mini vacation since most are out of staters, some out of country too...

Re: wedding date??
We wanted a Sunday evening. It just seemed different to us. We picked our particular Sunday by calculating what we thought a wedding would cost, how much $$ we could take out of each paycheck, and how many paychecks it would take to reach the number.

Re: wedding date??
I wanted fall of 2005. Since we got engaged 2/05, FH said it was too soon. FH wanted outdoor cocktail hour and I did not want to wait until the summer of 2006. Sunday of Memorial day was available and for a great price, so we took it. I would have preferred to get married sooner!

Re: wedding date??
FH is in law school (to begin a second career) - we didn't want to wait until summer 2007. January gives us enough time to get married, go on our honeymoon and NOT interfere with a job for him.
An October wedding would have been my ideal, though.

Re: wedding date??
We chose 8-5-06 so we have more time to save money and we needed a time when neither of us would be in school nor summer school. We both wanted it in the summer.

Re: wedding date??
We chose July 15 b/c we wanted a summer wedding since I am a teacher and I also wanted a month to get use to being married and living on our own for a bit before I had to go back to work. Would have gotten married the 22 of July but fiance's family is really involved in a feast that takes places every year around that time. So July 15 just seem to make sense. If we take a two week honeymoon I'll have full month.
