Re: wedding date

We had to work around when his family from Greece would be able to come., since they all work in hotels., we had to choose Feb when they are out. 2-22-08 was available and we took it!

We wanted a short engagement...=) we really wanted September 07 but everyone was going nuts about it.

I always wanted a fall/winter wedding..... no sweating and no frizz! FH also wanted the same.....

We were originally thinking about October/Novemer '08. Then, we got the price list for February..... and decided to seriously consider it. FH wanted '09, I didn't want to wait that long.

The deciding factor was after we visited my grandparents for the first time after we became engaged. My grandfather hugged me, and started crying. My aunt said to me, 'He's just so happy, and he's worried that he won't be around to see you get married.' My grandfathers health is not terrible, but, he's in his late 70s and is a heavy smoker.

After that, we decided to move it up. There is nothing more important to me than my grandparents being there to see me get married.

I had always said I wanted a fall wedding. So when we were looking at reception halls we were asking about October dates, only one reception hall (NRC, where our wedding is) had one october date available and that was Halloween. So she gave us a choice of 10/31 or 11/7..one week apart, yet it was like a $20 difference pp. So we opted for 11/7..besides I hateeeeeeee halloween lol

Hey .. you're my date twin!! WOO HOO! i thought i was the only one with that date!!!! isn't it amazing how one week makes such a price difference.. i couldn't believe it when we started looking at dates!!!

I know its ridiculous!..When Fh and I spoke to her regarding both dates and she gave us the 10/31 price and then the 11/7 price (a whole 7 days later!) and it was like $20 difference. He looked at her and was just like 'are you f-in kidding me!?' so i just looked at her and was like November 7th it is! lol and we booked then

we were going to do saturday, but then we got the price for friday night and it was about a $15-$20 difference as well! So we figured we could use the extra money for photos or something like that!

Re: wedding date

We knew we wanted to go to Greece for our honeymoon and found out that the best month to go is September. Also, I love the summer, so we picked the 1st Saturday in September so it would still be summer-like.

How did you ladies decide on your wedding date?

I knew i wanted mine to be at the end of september because i figured the temperture would be just right.. We were orignally thinking that saturday night would be best but ended up going with a friday because it was little bit more affordable based on the size of our wedding and the rh that we just loved.

ditto but we went with october ... i LOVE cool fall nights and i didnt want the bridal party to be hot, sweaty, cranky etc. oh and because love the colors of early fall!

Re: wedding date

I originally wanted October because I love the fall and the dark colors. But it was too soon for us $ wise. I like May and June also so, we picked 5/17 b/c it was the same day we got engaged.

We knew we wanted winter/cold...we hate the whole being hot and sweaty thing. It would be my fantasy for it to snow!!!

Didn't know what day of the week - only knew that Sunday & Friday were cheaper than Saturday...so we picked a Sunday with a holiday most people had off right after.

We wound up with January 20th, because the following day is Martin Luther King Jr. day and anyone in my family who has to travel may be able to get back home before missing any work...

It stays fairly warm throughout Sept. and a good part of October. At least last year it did!

We wanted a holiday weekend and so we picked The Friday of Memorial Day Weekend instead of July 4th b/c it was a lil cheaper pp and its a lil cooler in May temperature wise.

Re: wedding date

I wanted October but not close to my my bday which is the beginning of November. The original date we wanted was a Saturday night, but the room wasn't available, so we opted for the date we have now because it's a 3-day weekend. Plus it worked out that it's less money pp.

Re: wedding date

I hate being cold more than anything in the world so the whole winter was out. I'm not really into the whole fall foliage thing so the fall was out. The summer I just feel bad for all the guys in their suits sweating their co-hones off. Spring I love the flowers, the weather and May just seemed like the perfect time for us. As for the date...I have this weird fixation with numbers 13-19 so the 17th was perfect for us! We decided that at the church while meeting with the Priest...we were the first wedding booked with them for 2008 so we could pick any date! For real that whole thought process went through my head while deciding wow I have problems

Re: wedding date

We knew we wanted to get married in the summer of 2008 since I'm a teacher and when we went to book, the first available date that Russo's had in the summer was July 25, 2008.
