The venue I picked has only 1 day available this whole summer and that is The memorial Day Monday!!! Now I am scared people won't come ..... would you go to a wedding on Memorial day or you would rather stay away if you left for the long week end?

if it was someone close to me of course I would go to their wedding. However would I like the idea of a Monday wedding, honestly not really. Especially at the end of a 3 or 4 day weekend. JMHO....

my BM got married last year on Sunday before memorial day and didn't have a problem with people attending.
the wedding was in MA so it was my mini-vacation

is there any way you can move the date to 2011? Memorial Day weekend is reaaaallly tough to swing and some vendors may even charge more for the holiday time...?

Normally I would think its fine but bc you're so close to the date already, I might rethink it bc I think you are supposed to give people a lot of notice if you're doing a holiday weekend (people may already have trips planned - whereas if you told them more in advance they could plan around the wedding if necessary)

me too! i'm part of the church choir and i was pretty annoyed at the couple that i had to perform on a holiday!

personally if it was my wedding I wouldnt do it. If this is THE place Id just look into a diff time and do it then! I just am not big on weekday weddings...nevermind I hate the fact that the next day is a wk day. I feel like ppl wont wanna stay, drink and have a good time knowing they need to be up early for wk or/and school the next day.

People who love you and your FH would come regardless but holidays are a tough call. It may be more expensive (accomodations) and frustrating (i.e traffic) for you and your loved ones...

Yes, I would love summer (this summer) - we were supposed to get married last summer and we pushed to this summer .... and still the venue was already fully booked. We can't do a Saturday night anyway, it's a orhodox jewish wedding ..... the option would be a different venue (less nice) on a Sunday in June :( I prefer the first venue that has available only May 31st

I would not be happy about going to a wedding the monday of memorial day weekend. I usually go away for that weekend and am usually nursing my hangover on that monday. lol so I would be a no if I was a guest! but if thats thehall you really want and thats the only date, do it.. send out save the dates like now though so the people who plan on coming don't go away or have plans for that weekend! JMO

Ah, I see.
In that case, if that's the venue you want and you're set on a summertime wedding, then do it! Send out STD's now so people know in advance and see if you can set your minimum kind of low, just in case people RSVP 'no' since it's a holiday.
I agree though, it is like going to a Sunday wedding!

My best friend is having her wedding on Labor Day Monday and I think it's a great idea. She was able to get great pricing for her vendors because it's a Monday, even though it's a holiday. And of course I will absolutely be attending her wedding. I agree with the other girls that it's like a Sunday wedding.
