The venue I picked has only 1 day available this whole summer and that is The memorial Day Monday!!! Now I am scared people won't come ..... would you go to a wedding on Memorial day or you would rather stay away if you left for the long week end?

I usually don't go away, so that aspect wouldn't bother me so much, but I'm not sure I could get a wedding/dancing vibe going on on a Monday.

We went to a labor day monday wedding a few years ago in NJ and the traffic was horrific coming back. Thankfully it was a day wedding so we were driving back around 5 or 6 pm, but it took us almost 4 hours what usually takes 45 minutes. That was not fun.

I think it's just like a Sunday wedding on a regular weekend, but I'd be prepared for people to not come if they already ahve vacation plans and I'd send the STDs out ASAP.
Have you considered the Wednesday before Thanksgiving? That's becoming really popular.
What hall is this that it's so hot?
ETA: Are you 2010 or 2011?

It might be a bit of struggle for this Memorial Day Weekend since people may really have already booked things OOT. So if you are going to do it you'd have to tell people immediately. Memorial Day is only 3Months away. You wouldn't consider later in summer or September?

I dont think you will have a problem at all - especially because it is Memorial Day weekend. I am getting married the day before you, Sunday, and if that date wasn't available we probably would have chosen the Monday.

FH was in his BF's wedding a few years ago on Memorial Day monday-it was in WDC. We had to drive down Sunday since he was in the BP. We ended up staying for the entire wedding-i think most people did too. but there was about 50+ people from NY that left and got back on the road Monday night-some had to go to work the next day; FH & I took the day off but still drove home sunday night to beat traffic.
It's touchy-you'll get people who have to work the next day (same as a sunday) and then those that have already made plans for that weekend.

I don't think you will have a problem with the people you want coming...I just think like other girls, its just close to the day of and you may have trouble finding vendors.
That being said, if you are flexible and are okay with a few 'sorry we are booked' from different vendors, I think you'll be fine.
I can totally understand wanting to get married sooner than later....a year engagement is almost too much for me

My friend got married on July 4th and she had alot of her guest show up so I think you will be fine. My brother also got married columbus day weekend and all his guest showed.

Memorial day is just like a sunday night. I dont think it would be bad at all. Its probably alot cheaper too. Its just tough because its only like 3 months away.
At my school i work at we are off monday and tuesday thats why im getting married next year on sunday of memorial day weekend bc im off friday mon and tues.

I think you will be fine. My brother got married on Memorial Day Monday as well as a friend of mine. Its not preferred by a guest but then ends up being really great in the end.
We were a little reluctant to book on Columbus Day Monday for the same reason but we booked it because my Sister-in-law reassured us it would be fine (as long as it ended by 8pm)

if it was someone close to me of course I would go to their wedding. However would I like the idea of a Monday wedding, honestly not really. Especially at the end of a 3 or 4 day weekend. JMHO....
