Wedding Day Jewelry - Real or Imitation?

I was wondering what you gals are doing for your Wedding Day jewelry .... real, imitation, something borrowed, etc.

Thanks!

I am wearing jewelry that was my grandmothers'...a necklace from one, a bracelet from the other (both are gone) a ring that was my great aunt's who is still alive but can't make the wedding...and earrings i aksed my parents to get me for Christmas...all real, but also nothing too extravagant or expensive..definitely sentimental stuff that i will wear again and again too. I got a necklace and earings from a little shop in the fashion district. I don't really care if they're real crystals or not, they look nice with my dress!

I don't think it matters either way. Originally I was thinking not real but then fell in love with earrings and a necklace that were real. And I'm wearing my grandmother's bracelet. The earrings are my wedding gift from FH

What does real mean? WHat would be fake?

I guess real gold or silver or pearls, versus plated jewelry and such- costume jewelry is much much cheaper than real jewelry.

I haven't decided yet which one I'm going with, I'm just waiting to see something that I like (and hope to god its not too expensive if I find something real that I like!!!

I'm wearing real earrings and a crystal necklace and a crystal bracelet but I don't know if crystal counts as real so I didn't vote. The 'real' earring are my something borrowed.

Thanks Helen, that is what I meant!

Sorry if my question was vague.

I didn't feel like it was a silly question when I posted it, but now I'm thinking that it might have been ...

Just trying to get a feel for what other brides were doing .... out of curiosity ....

I guess by 'real' I meant diamond and by 'imitation' I meant jewelry made from crystals, etc. It truly doesn't MATTER what we wear, we're all going to be beautiful on our wedding day!

Its one of the things I need to start looking at, and I wasn't sure if I wanted to start wtih jewelers or not ...

Didn't mean to offend anyone on here

Hey Jess!! I don't think you really offended anyone (or at least I didn't take offense , I just think its late and there isn't as many people on LIW as there is during the day.

And.....most likely for me, it will probably be fake! So far the necklaces I've considered that were real were very pricey (or at least I just couldn't justify spending on it when we have so many other things to pay). But I won't really know for sure until I buy my jewelry. I think I'm going to wait until my dress comes in and then I'll head to Tri-County to get some ideas.

IMITATION definitely -- I can't afford the real thing no matter how much I'd love it!!
Just my rings will be 'real'

all real.... I am wearing the pearls my mom wore at her wedding, my grandmother's ring, of course the wedding/engagement rings......

to complement all that, I bought a sterling silver hair clip (Thanks, ebay!) and a pair of gold lemon quartz earrings.
