Wedding dillema
So, since last Christmas, I have been anxiously awaiting my roommate, and good college friend of 4 years, wedding on June 25 of next year.Well, this past summer, my 3rd cousin, who's family I'm closer to then herself, got enganged and I just found out they set a date. On June 26, 2005.
Now, this would not be such a problem if both weddings were in the same general area.
However.
My friend's is in Richmond, Virginia, while my cousins is likely in Albany or the surrounding area.
Now, I'm not missing my friend's, there's no way, I'm closer to her, and I've known about hers far longer. But at the same time I don't want to miss my cousins and alienate my family, especially a mere 6 weeks prior to my own wedding.
So, do I try to high tail it up to Albany from Richmond the day after the wedding, or do I regretfully decline?

Re: Wedding dillema
Yikes! If there is any way you can make it to both, I would definitely try. I wouldn't want to risk offending either one. Drink lots of coffee!

Re: Wedding dillema
Been there and done it! My friend here in California(the first one I made after moving here) was getting married on a Saturday afternoon. My best friend in NY was getting married on a Friday and I was in the wedding party. I partied all night at my best friends wedding in NY, didn't sleep, went to the airport at six am, sleep for four hours on the plane, jumped in a cab, had ten minutes until the ceremony so in my stinky clothes I slept in, without even brushing my hair!, I went to the church and saw my other good friend get married. Then I ran home and showered and made it to the reception. I didn't last the whole reception but I was there for the highlights. I was really glad I made the effort. I hope that helps.

YIKES! I had two friends get married the same weekend, but they were within driving distance of each other in Indiana (one Fri night, one Sat night). I'd say, if it's possible, try to make both affairs, if not, send a nice gift and your regrets to the other!

I have to agree with the majority here, Deb. As lazy as I am, and would hate to have to rush through the weddings, i think its worth it. And it would mean alot to those couples involved (just picture how nice you would feel for those people that would do that for your wedding)

Re: Wedding dillema
Totally can be done if you can't decide. I couldn't choose last year and wound up going to a wedding in MI and Long Island the same weekend (and I'm living in the DC area). I was totally pooped that Sunday night sitting on the runway, but it was worth it and both couples totally appreciated it. You could probably find a really great deal on Southwest or something (they fly into to both locations).Good luck!!!!
