Wedding Dress Advice

Wedding Dress Advice

So I decided to go dress shopping 2 days ago (even though I'm getting Married in May 2016) because I'm usually very picky so I figured I'd start early. Well I went to another salon last night and I found a dress I absolutely love (Maggie Sotterro Marianne from her Spring 2013 collection). I never thought I would find a dress that quickly, I figured it would take months!

So my question is, I'm getting married in just over a year and a half, is it too early to purchase the gown?!

I am getting married In September 2016 and I don't plan on going dress shopping until next fall. I didn't want to fall in love with something this year and then change my mind 9 months before my wedding.

I don't think it's too early, I went shopping 14 months before my wedding. I felt like I took the pressure off myself because I did have time. I still watch Say yes to the dress and read bridal magazines and never second guessed my choice either. When you know, you know!

I ordered my dress 12 months before my wedding, and had been shopping around for about a month or so. I don't think that it's too early for you. It gave me the time (without the pressure) to try on a million dresses and be sure it was the one I wanted. I say keep looking around for a month or so and if this is still the measuring stick to every other dress, go for it.

I don't think its too soon. My friend picked out her dress before her venue was picked. She went on a whim with her mom and sister, tried on a dress and loved it. She decided she didn't want to chance not being able to find that style when the time got closer. Personally, I think I'm going to wait alittle longer because I am super indecisive and I know seeing other dresses through the planning process will throw me and my date is still two years away lol. But I agree if you end up comparing every dress to that one, then stick with it!

I keep going back and forth. My wedding is three months after yours and I want SOOO badly to go now, but I think I'm gonna wait for at least the spring. My mom keeps telling me to wait since you never know what dresses may come out and how your taste may change. if you feel that it's THE one then I say go for it. It's not every day you get that feeling and you also never know if it may get discontinued since its a 2013 design. Just something to think about!

Gorgeous dress btw!

I ordered my dress 13 months in advance. I think you're fine if you know it's the one! But don't look at other dresses once you purchase it! You will drive yourself nuts.

I started looking around 15 months out.

That is a GORGEOUS dress! If you're not a very indecisive person I say go for it - if you love it you love it. But if you tend to second guess yourself and go back and forth I'd hold off a little longer, you'll still be able to get your hands on it.

I would get it sooner then later I know my Maggie Sottero dress was from the 2012 collection and was discontinued shortly after I purchased it in 2014.

Dress is beautiful! I ordered mine about 15 months in advance and haven't second guessed it once!

I bought my dresses 14 months in advance and it took over a month to make a decision. I didn't want to rush into the decision and even after I found it, I still tried on more dresses. There's always that one dress that you'll have a connection with and after nothing else will compare.

I bought my dress 17 months before my wedding. I have never looked back. I went for my first fitting last week and I loved it as much as the day I bought it. My one piece of advice...if you do buy it, dont look at other dresses. I stayed clear of wedding shows and magazines. Best decision I ever made.
