Wedding Dress question...

Hi, I'm not sure what to look for in a wedding dress. I've heard horror stories about dresses you have to bustle. I'm also having trouble finding dresses without a train that I like. There aren't many. Can anyone explain to me about the bustle? Does it make your dress poof out in the back? Will it hold up? Should I get a dress without a train? HELP!!! I don't want a dress that poofs up in the back, and I don't want a long dress during the reception. Any ideas would be great! Thanks so much!

Wedding Dress question...

I had a gown with a removable train which worked out perfectly...looked gorgeous in the church and in the pictures and then as soon as we got to the hall I was free!! You just have to keep an eye on it because with everyone pulling on you, occasionally one of the hooks would unhook and my MOH and BMs would have to re-hook me. But it was nothing major.

Wedding Dress question...

it really depends on the dress. For example - the dress I picked out (strapless A-Line) has a train and it can bustle 2 ways. Under - hence no poof or it can be gathered up in back as a standard bustle. When you go to try on the dresses ask the sales person how the dress bustles, she should be able to show you. I wanted mine bustled under because it keeps the line much more natural in back.

it also depends on the length of the train

also keep in mind that the bustle will depend on the length of the train. My train is not too long (i believe it is called tiffany length) so bustling it wont make me look like i have a big butt :) (at least i am hoping not) But the bridal store will show you how it looks bustled.

Wedding Dress question...

It sounds like the detachable train is the way to go for you. Mine wasn't detachable, and the bustle, although nice, did start to fall by the day's end, and it did look a little sloppy. If I had to do over again, I would get a detachable train, although I had to admit that to myself.
