Wedding Dress Timeline

How far in advance, realistically, should you buy your wedding dress? What about bridesmaid dresses?

Re: Wedding Dress Timeline

You can really order them once you know that the dress you find is the one. I ordered my wedding gown last April for my Spet 2004 wedding and my BMs ordered their dresses last August.

Re: Wedding Dress Timeline

I just ordered my dress and my wedding is 8 months away. I wouldn't wait much later than that....most places I looked at told me I shouldn't wait much longer to order it.

Re: Wedding Dress Timeline

The first bridal salon told me it would ten 8 - 9 months to get my dress. Then the other salon, the cheaper one, told me that if I ordered in Jan. my dress would arrive in May. But, we will see what happens.

I think I would order at the lastest 8 monhts before, remember to keep time for alterations!

Re: Wedding Dress Timeline

I would say you shouldn't order any sooner than 1 year to 15 months before. You might change your mind or see something you like even more if you leave too much time. Also, it may come in alot earlier than you expect and the salon may not store it for you (I think it's happened to a couple of girls on here).

Re: Wedding Dress Timeline

I ordered my dress in the end of NOV & it just came in...4 months. My BM dresses will be in next week, Alfred Angelo, 3 months.

Everyone had me panicked about not having picked a dress 8 months to a year in advance...but it worked out. I wouldn't wait that long again, but if you can't find what you like, don't rush & settle for something you aren't crazy about!
