Can anyone recommend some bridal shops in long island where i can find reasonably priced gowns?? Trying to spend no more than $800 (with alterations). I have an appointment w/Davids Bridal next month; looked on their website and nothing has really popped out to me; but i'm going to see what they have in person.
I got my BM dress for my sisters '08 wedding from a Bridal store in lynbrook right on Sunrise-never looked at gowns there since my sister had already purchased her dress from David's Bridal-anyone have any luck buying from them or getting a good deal?? Thanks!

The Davids Bridal in Massapequa is great! It will be hard though to spend up to $800 with alterations.

You might be talking about Lynbrook Bridal and I heard it closed down
As for places...try The Bridal World it's in Baldwin..they have beautiful gowns at great prices. I even saw a girl buy a dress of the rack (sample) there and it was in beautiful condition and her budget was $400

Re: Wedding Dresses on a Budget
I got my gorgeous 2009 Jim Hjelm gown on Craigs List. I live in Manhattan and the bride was in Brooklyn. She even let me come and see the dress twice before I decided to buy it. You should definitely give Craigslist a try!
Also - Ally Bespoke tailors in midtown are pretty cheap and very quick.

You might be surprised at David's bridal. I won a free dress there and tried so hard to sell my certificate, and then when it was about to expire I went there to buy a gown to sell and found an amazing gown to wear. I would recommend the manhattan store. It's 100x better than the others I've been to.

Helen's Bridal in Commack has great dresses but alterations aren't included. My Maggie Sottero dress was only $735 with tax and alterations are capped at $295
