Wedding ettiquette?

Wedding ettiquette?

Ok so someone told me that I should keep my wedding plans under wraps and not talk about my wedding plans too much with people, especially if they are not coming to the wedding.
What is the proper etiquette for talking about wedding plans?

I could understand why people say this and I know it's hard because you are so excited. However, some people do get sensitive about it, especially those who are not going to be invited and/or people who are going through a rough time relationship-wise. On the other hand, I have experienced a lot of people who love talking about it and giving me advice especially those who are married already. I guess you have to use your judgement and respect the feelings of others. I definitely understand the need though, planning for a wedding can take over your way of thinking for a while!

I am not sure of the proper ettiquette...but I know for me in the beginning I was talking about it alot (especially) since I am sooo excited ~ but sometimes you can tell when some people don't want to hear about it (even 1 of my BM) she made a face...so now I don't talk about it much... but I probably wouldnt say much to someone if I wasnt going to invite them... I am very lucky to have my MOH who is getting married 3 weeks after me ~ so we both can talk about it together all the time if we want 2 (and since we are both going through it) we both wont get sick of hearing it!

If people ask, I tell them. That's for the ones not coming to the wedding. I girl (that is invited to the wedding, but not the shower) recently asked me about my shower. I am debating now if she should be invited.

I really kept it to a minimum with others, only talking about it when they would ask. The only people who have been getting earfulls all along is my mom and my sister (MOH). Other than that, I just kinda keep quiet. Honestly, I have realized, those who care will ask, if they don't ask, they don't care.

This is why LIW is so invaluable. We never get tired of hearing wedding stuff or talking about it.

I talked to my Mom and 1 sister a lot about it, and of course DH. But other than that, I only really talked about it with one friend at work who was invited.

If people mentioned it in passing, I would just tell them it's going well and leave it at that. Especially people who weren't invited. Like coworkers.

I only talk about it with people if they ask specific questions, otherwise I just say it's going well. The only people I go into detail with are my FH, family members, and a few friends. Even with them, I don't like to make it the focus of the conversation because I know they get tired of hearing about it and don't really care about the details as much as I do.

i try really hard not to talk about the wedding too much - it is really just boring for other people to hear (IMO) and sometimes hard for people depending on their relationship situations

so basically i limit it to family, recent brides and future brides. . . luckily like 5 of my closest friends are getting married soon and my MOH is a newlywed PLUS LIW - so i get it out of my system!

i quickly realized that all men ( including FH) and msot women just dont get the importance of the details!!

i agree, you talk about it only if you are asked, and just say the basic 'oh it's going well..' unless they look interested or probe for more.

I feel the more you tell, the more ppl judge you or the more they feel awkward if they aren't invited... :(

It's like in high school all over ag ain when you weren't invited to the popular parties and everyone else is taking about it.... :(

i dont know if its etique - but i refrained from talking about it alot @ work to people because i didnt want people thinking they were invited because i have been blabbing every detail to them.

when people ask i would answer with - 'plans are coming along'

At first I just talked all the time about it, but now I've tried not to unless someone asks. This is my wedding kick- so when I want to talk wedding, I head here or I talk my sister and MOH who got married last year.
