Re: Wedding Gift Advice

i dont think $100 is enough.

is it a sat or friday night wedding? usually I give more to those because I know the cost is higher for the bride and groom.

$200 should be ok

you should be fine with $200. thats what i usually give. unless i am really close to the bride and groom.

I think that you should give what you can afford to- I am sure that they understand that you are planning your own wedding and money is tight.

I usually give $250-300 for a wedding

Me too, unless they are super close like family or something then I give more.

Here's the deal - plane and simple. Etiquette says that your gift should at least cover the cost of your meal. that said MINIMUM of $100 per person. aka - $200 for the two of you. there after you factor in closeness ...family....etc...

on a final note - after laying out all the formulaic ways for deciding on an amount - it is a GIFT. it shouldn't be given with the thought of 'what will they do / what have they done for us' it should come from the heart.
