My cousin is getting married this Saturday. To make a long story short due to a divorce, I haven't seen her in about 5 years but was invited to the wedding. Her reception is at 12:00pm. What should I give her in the envelope. Please help........ I am clueless.

Re: wedding gift question
Well I think $150 to $200 per head (so double it if you bring a guest) is quite common, but you could give less if you feel that you can't afford it. I got gifts in all amounts.

Re: wedding gift question
Thanks. For the info, I was thinking around 150 a person. I can afford to give, but being she doesn't come to many family functions, I will have a hard time signing the check. Sometimes I can hold a grudge.

Re: wedding gift question
Totally understand your question. This is family so if you totally skimp on the gift the grudge could then be passed on... and on... You don't need that hassle.
BUT ultimately it should be the thought that counts... and you are going to the wedding and your presence there should show good family support.
I understand not being able to sign a check when feelings are already hurt.
You are being the bigger person here.

I agree. Unless she is going all out on the wedding and she is going top of the line, then I would give more.

Re: wedding gift question
Give what you want and what you can afford.
I wouldn't give more just because they have an 'over the top' wedding. That was their choice, not yours. Your gift should be based on what comes from your heart not dictated by the Bride & Groom's tastes.
