I dont know how much I could help you, but I am in the same position. My wedding is in August also. There are two that I like, but there is something I dont like about both of them. I am getting nervous because August doesnt seem so far anymore. Have you looked at a lot of places? Well, good luck to you.....

Re: Wedding gown problem (Long)...
Hi Melissa, First of all congratulations. My wedding is in August as well. I had the same problem when looking for gowns. I thought oh my god I don't like any of the gowns. Until....I went to Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook. I found a beautiful Maggie Sottero dress. The dress is not advertised in magazines (some are)...but you should check out her website www.maggiesotterobridal.com. If you want I can give you the number to the Bridal Store. They were so helpful in there. They also have reasonably priced gowns as well. Good luck!!

I had the same problem. (long)
I couldn't find a dress that was 'the one'. I did find a few dresses that came close but there was always something I didn't like. So I decided to have mine made. I never would have thought that I would have mine made. I am very indecisive and have no imagination. With that said my wedding is two months away and so far so good. I am really happy with how it is turning out and it is actually turning out to be cheaper than buying one. Why don't you call the woman that is making my dress. She is very young, friendly and imaginative. You can check out her website, www.yvngesdotter.com. She is located in Queens and works out of her house. There are several girls on TheKnot who have used her to make their dresses and/or alter their store bought dresses.

Some suggestions
What type of dresses are you looking for? You need to keep a very, very open mind to all dresses. Some of them don't look great on the hanger so we push them aside. Meanwhile, once on the dress is amazing. Also, where have you gone? Sometimes certain places only carry a small selection of dresses in each price range. I will reccomend where I went, Bridal Suite in Centereach, ask for Debbie. She was SUPER!! She knew what she was doing and what would look good. I tried on a few dresses that I would never have even thought twice about. And the Maggio Scotto dresses looked great. I ultimately went with a Demetrois gown that I fell in love with. You will find the perfect dress. Don't panic because you still have time to get your dress.

Wedding gown problem...
I was having the same problem and my wedding is in April. I found a dress I loved at The Bridal Building in NYC. Best of all, since it's a sample I walked out with it and don't have to worry about the 12-16 weeks to order.

Don't panic. I had a pretty big budget and looked for months before buying my dress. If you already know what you want but can't find one dress that has it all - have it made. If you haven't found anything you like, then just keep looking on a regular basis.

Maggie Sottero
Deanna, which Maggie did you get? I tried on several of her dresses and loved them. Also, where did you buy your dress?

Maggie Sottero
I bought the Miranda Dress. When you view the dress on line you actually cannot see the detail. Its looks so different in person. I bought the dress at Beautiful Bride in Lynbrook. I love her line because its different from every other wedding dress.

Melissa First thing to remember is to remain calm! You will find YOUR dress. You have time and don't let a bridal salesperson pressure you into buying something you don't love. You only have one wedding! A suggestion for where to look- Bolo Vasquez. They do wonderful work. I went there for a trunk show and didn't love any of the high end designer dresses they had. I asked to see their dresses and fell in love w/ 3 of them. Ok I can't wear 3 dresses at once but since they make the dresses to order (no alterations!! made to fit YOU!) they were able to combine the parts I like into 1 dress. It's like designing your own gown. They are in Manhattan but the showroom is right next to Penn Station so it's easy to get there by LIRR if you don't want to drive in. I can't recall the number but the webbsite www.bolovasquez.com Good luck on your search- And don't stress- YOUR DRESS IS OUT THERE!!! Sam

Wedding gown problem...
I had the same problem as well. My wedding is in July and I found two dresses I liked at Wedding Salon of Manhasset. The owners and salesgirls were so nice there. They suggested that I take the top of one dress and the bottom of the other and have it custom made into the dress that I wanted - so that's what I did! They were very accommodating...and if you go there, ask for Stephanie!!

Melissa, something else to keep in mind
I know from all of your posts that you are on a budget. I will offer one piece of advise to you...when you are shopping try to avoid some of the high ticket shops and designers. It will make this much harder if you find a dress you love but cannot afford. It will make all other dress pale in comparision. I know some girls try on $3K and end up falling in love with a $800 dress. But rarely does that work in reverse. Don't worry you will find the dress of your dreams.
