I am *just* beginning my gown shopping and really just don't know where to begin. I want to shop at a place with bridal consultants who are nice and genuine, and dresses that are reasonably priced and pretty (would like to stay under $1000, but will go up to $2000. My one experience was at David's Bridal and the bridal consultants there were nightmares.
Can anyone recommend a place that might be better? Also, if you have a BC you like, that would be so helpful too. I'm dreading this part of the wedding planning because I have a low tolerance for salespeople - particularly the ones who are only out for the sale - and am overall stressed about the experience as I don't like shopping as it is, let alone looking for 'THE' dress. Sighhh...
I don't mean to sound so negative....just stressing a bit.
TIA!!!

I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience at David;s Bridal. Which location did you go to? I went to the one in Queens (3500 48th Street) and I must say my bridal attendant was Carol and she was a doll. The customer service was superb and I even purchased my gown from them. If that's not the location that you went to, I highly recommend there.

I went to the one in the Source in Westbury. Maybe I will try that location...is it easy to get to by subway? Otherwise, I'll have to see...my mom doesn't travel much outside nassau county
ETA - I mean that I would just grab a girlfriend and go from the city, rather than dragging my mom out of nassau county! LOL! She'll travel all around the U.S. but locally, she is a LI girl

Try Renate's Wedding Boutique in Lindenhurst. They are all so friendly there, they matched the lowest price I found for my gown and are genneraly just really great to deal with.

Re: Wedding gown shopping....HELP!
Thank you all for your recommendations!
I have made appt's at Village Bridal, Princess Bridal, and with mary ellen at Bay Shore bridal! I tried Burton's but they are closed until the 2nd - I'll call back then.
I also found a place in the city called Bridal Garden which is a not for profit that sells second hand couture gowns. Anyone know anything about them? Their voicemail message is kind of funny....the lady kept having to correct herself. We are between 7th and, i mean 5th and 6th....we are open until...no...until....
I am curious about the place though....
PS - Mary Ellen got on the phone with me and took my appt. She said 'Oh, I seem to be popular on LI Weddings - I get a lot of brides from there'! I told her it's a testament to the brides' recommendations b/c we all know how spot on we all are
I'm looking forward to my appts now...yay! Once this is done.....I will finally be on a roll. I've been kind of plodding along with my planning. Hopefully this will spark something inside me!!
ETA - Oh, and I'm also making appts at Fantasia and the others...lots are on holiday so I will have to wait

Re: Wedding gown shopping....HELP!
I highly recommend Lillette's in Baldwin- all their BC's are great but if you do go I recommend Gerri.
They have a large selection of gowns and the service and helpfulness can't be beat imo- I ordered my Maggie Sottero from there (pic is in my album if you want to see it).
Btw- they are closed until after the holiday as well.

Re: Wedding gown shopping....HELP!
Some might disagree but i went to bridal reflections in massapequa and they were so helpful. They didn't bring me anything over my budget and were very nice. I would go on a day when they aren't really stressed maybe during the week or something not on a weekend when they see people all day. Good luck!
