Ok, so I'm pretty new to the wedding planning scene. Everyone tells me you can bargain bargain bargain and get great deals. Well, I went to a place (I won't mention the name just yet). They wouldn't bargain AT ALL with us on the 9/22/07 Sat. wedding date. Now, here's my dilemma.
We could get married on 9/22/07 with a 7:30 cocktail hour. I think that's a bit late. Our other option is the Sunday before Columbus day weekend. We would be able to have the cocktail hour at 5PM which isn't that bad because everyone will be going home around 10. Most of our guests would have off the next day but there are a few who wouldn't be. My FH and I really want to get married at this place.
Should we go look at one more place that is equally as nice, but may not be as cheap or have the dates available. OR should we just book the place we really want, and which date?
HELP!!!

Re: Wedding Hall dilemma
Look at the other place, you may love it. I have to say be careful with the bargin generalities. My hall did not budge, they didn't even blink actually. Sometimes the price actually is the price.

Re: Wedding Hall dilemma
My CH starts at 7:15 and the whole reception ends at like 12:30pm, but this is for a Saturday. I don't like the late time either, but I loved the place that much and I figured out it gives me tons of time to take all my pics before CH, which I love.

Re: Wedding Hall dilemma
FIRST OFF DONT SETTLE FOR LESS LOOK AT OTHER PLACES U HAVE TO BE ABLE TO WORK WITH SOMEONE THAT IS WILLING TO WORK WITH U...IF THEY WONT BARGAIN WITH U NOW EXPECT MORE PROBLEMS WITH THEM IN THE FUTURE......VENDORS HAVE TO CATER TO THEIR COSTUMERS AND WORK OUT EVERYTHING UNTIL EVERYONE IS HAPPY UR NOT GIVEN THAT CHOICE...LOOK SOME PLACE ELSE U NEVER KNO WHATS OUT THERE UNTIL U CHECK IT OUT...REMEMBER U CAN ALWAYS GO BACK....U SHOULDNT HAVE TO BE GIVEN A DATE CHOICE EITHER..U DO UR WEDDING WHEN U WANT!!!!

Re: Wedding Hall dilemma
I had this problem as well. I decided to get married on the Sun night of Columbus day. I feel that the people who truley love and care about you guys will either take off of work on Mon if they have to and will stay to the end of the reception. You have to do what feels best for you guys. If you really love the hall then go for it.

7:30pm cocktail hr is NOT too late --- My wedding starts at 7 and the cocktail hour starts at 7:30 on Saturday night in March (very dark outside by that point!).
The party will go on until 12:30 and I expect to leave around 1 AM......if people have to leave early, they will no matter what.
ditto 7:30 is fine, my wedding starts around 7 also. I wanted that because Im a night owl anyway and we want to party and have a great time. Go for what you want and don't worry about people, the ones that are coming are there for you and what you want. Remember it's your day and it doesn't happen ofter. Good luck.

Re: Wedding Hall dilemma
It wont hurt to check out one or even two more places-- just check them out soon & you will know in your heart which one you want!
I loved the first hall I visited and was tempted to book on the spot-- but i didn't. I looked at two others which just made me positive that I wanted the original place.... When I went back I told him honestly-- I LOVE your reception hall-- but I am not in love with the price-- what can be done so we are both happy?-- & we negotiated.... I am very happy with the end result Good luck!

Book the place you really want. You only get married once (hopefully)! You want it to be everything you love!

it doesnt hurt to look at others....but if you really love the hall that much...then book it...you may regret not booking the place that you love...
