wedding is off

Re: wedding is off

that is absolutely AWFUL!! And no matter what...no one deserves to be humiliated and jerked around like that on what should have been the happiest day of their lives!!! I can understand if she was sleeping with the best man or something like that...but my god....other then that, I can't think of a good enough reason for that to happen to anyone.

My (much older) cousin was walked out on 3 times by the SAME guy just months before their wedding. I think one time invites were sent out, but the other times it was before that. Yes, she should have left the guy, but she didn't.

Her wedding to a new man was just a few months ago and I couldn't be happier. These things DO work out for the best, but no one should be humiliated like that no matter what!!!!!!

And to the other bride who shared her story, I am happy for you that you are in a great relationship now......good things come to those who wait!!

Re: wedding is off

that's horrible. a family no matter what should support one another. even if they don't like the girl. she was marrying her fiance not the family.

my fh is estranged from his family. I don't really know them, they don't really know me or my family. because of that they would rather we not get married. it's gonna happen anyway. I would feel horrible though if fh suddenly backed out saying no because his mom said so. he loves me to much to ever do that though

if anything though fh is worried everyday that on our wedding day I'll be like the girl who ran off to Mexico who was all over the news. that's to messed up though. weddings are expensive. they should sue her fiance for doing that. I would sue mine if he did that. don't leave the family with a big bill like that!!

WOW! I say no matter what the reason why wait til the day of the wedding!!!??? I mean you must know before that that you don't want to go through with it!! I can't imagine that happening on what's supposed to be the happiest day of your life!!! Granted if they truly aren't meant to be than they shouldn't get married ..but he could have called it off earlier!! that's nuts!!!

One day she'll realize that she's sooooooo much better off. That's so messed up of the family to do to the groom. And even worse for the wedding to be called of the day of. Why would anyone ever want to hurt someone like that? But at least she's not marrying into that family which is why she's better off.

Thanks for your kind words. I am much happier now for like the first time in five years!!

I have to say I would not wish that on my worst enemy either, except maybe for that girl he married!! No, actually, I wished she would have dumped him at the alter and not given him a reason why. Then he would have known how I felt! Is that wrong?

I am really trying to forgive them and am doing much better lately, but it is hard when he never even apologized for completely ruining my dream wedding and my life. Afterwards when I started dating my new boyfriend (current fiance) he started calling me saying he made a mistake calling off the wedding and trying to get me back. This was coming between me and the new guy. I told him to come back when he grows up and maybe, just maybe we will be together again.

Then he married someone else. I was totally shocked. I thought he had committment issues. I did not know he just did not think I was THE ONE. He barely knew the girl either. You think he would learn his lesson and not rush things. I bet they are really unhappy. She can have him. He is kind of controlling.

Anybody else ever go through this? I never thought my fiance would call off our wedding!!!!

Re: wedding is off

you're welcome.

Not to play therapist here...but lets just look at what you said.

Looking back....did he really ruin your LIFE or just a few days, months, or years?? If anything, I think he spared you from REALLY ruining y our ENTIRE LIFE. Imagine if you DID marry him??? Would there maybe have been cheating.....a messy divorce....a messy divorce with kids involved??? Now that could be a little harder to swallow. Yes. What he did is awful, and could be unforgiveable. But holding a grudge will get you nowhere fast. You're engaged...your in love....your with someone who treats you the way you deserve to be treated, someone you trust, and someone who wants to spend the rest of HIS life with....guess who?? YOU!!!!!

Fiance #1 is the one with the ruined life. He is the one who ran off and married someone he doesn't even know.....for some reason I don't imagine them growing old together......and....apparently he's a jerk!!!!! Yes, maybe he realized he made a mistake, but good for you to stick to your guns and not give him a 2nd or 3rd chance for him to break your heart like my cousin did.

I think you are very lucky that this didn't come between you and your current fiance TOO MUCH...that obviously shows he really loves you...probably felt bad for your situation and wanted you to get through it. You are going to be a beautiful bride....you are going to have your dream wedding.....and you are going to have a great marriage!!!!! Forget what this jerk did to you...it's not even worth your time or energy to think about it anymore!!! You have a much better life now....THANKS TO HIM!!! Get what I mean????

You are absolutely right! I am doing a lot better. I just found out that the ex got married about a year and a half ago and my fiance and I got engaged 8 months later. The more time that passes, the better I feel, but it is so hard to go through that.

If the guy was a total jerk or cheated on me, it would have been easier, but at the time I felt he was perfect and treated me like a princess. He does not believe in divorce or cheating, so if we did end up together I do not think he would have done that. I think he would have been 100% committed to me. When he called the wedding off, he said he still loved me, but just did not think I was the right person to marry. Sooo confusing!!!

I feel so bad for your cousin. I think after the first time, I would have told the guy to take a hike! How is she doing?
