Does anyone have any advice on catering halls that do wedding packages? Are they worth it if you are trying to save money? I see many that say for 100 people, what if you have more???

Re: Wedding Packages
Depends on what you mean by 'wedding packages.' In my experience, most 'packages' offered by halls include, for example, cocktail hr, reception, open bar the whole time, cake included, etc., but you are still charged a per-person cost. Most of the time they will give you a 'minimum', which is maybe the 100 you're talking about. Ask each hall what their minimum and maximum is. And do lots of research on what's included so you can make comparisons.

Re: Wedding Packages
In the looking that I did I was not impressed with packages that were offered. I found that the vendors were people I never heard of or couldn't find good information on. The halls get such a good deal on certain vendors that is why you get such a slashed cost. I decided to book my own vendors and it is working out to be less than it would had I gone with a package. It's worth the homework to have the day the way you want it. You want to chose who is the dj,photographer, florist, limo's ect... That just IMO though

I never knew there were packages that included vendors. I booked my own vendors, it was fun and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Re: Wedding Packages
I've seen a few places that offer this. There are usually ads in the newspaper and in some bridal magazines. I think the Brentwood Country Club and Ariana Waterfall have the option.
The only downside is that you are forced to use specific vendors, and if you make any modifications you have to pay extra. It does take away a lot of the stress of planning, I guess.

Re: Wedding Packages
we are having our reception at Brentwood Country Club....and it does take away a lot of stress...but you are not stuck using the vendors they have....we are using a different photograher and they are taking off money because we are not using their vendor. They are a pleasure to work with and very reasonable.

Re: Wedding Packages
My friend got married at The Riviera, and I know that when you book at The Riviera, they at least include the flowers for the tables. Is that what you mean by 'packages?' They include the cake, too. They also recommend a lot of vendors (like their DJ, Then Til Now, who I am using for my wedding at The Crescent). Try The Riviera... they are on the water in Massapequa. It's a beautiful place.

Re: Wedding Packages
There are a number of halls in Suffolk County that provide wedding packages depending on your wants/needs. I'm using Brentwood COuntry Club and I have a round sume to pay for 100 guests and it's $70 pp after the first 100.
There is also: Windows on the Lake - must have 150 to use otherwise they send you to Beach Club Estate
Mediterrean Manor - located in Patchoque
Check them all out.
There is also the option to pick a reception hall and then choose a wedding package from a bridal center like those 2 in Commack that you can take anywhere you get married.
FM if you want more info
