Wedding party vent

Wedding party vent

I only have a few close female friends. I find I am a better friend to women than they are to me.

Anyway, I have asked 2 friends to be in my wedding party and they both said no!!! ***??? The one girl I have known since we were born(our mom's were best friends) and then the other I have known since 1999. It just makes me mad because I am always there for their weddings, christenings, babies' bday parties and all that. I ask for one favor and it can't be given to me??

thats scuks... im sure its not the best feeling... and obviously you have been a better friend to them.... but if you asked them and they said yes just because you would probably have drama between you and them and that wouldn't be worth it!!! are they the only two you've asked?

Sorry to here this. I have to say, I find this odd. I mean unless it was for financial reasons, I don't see why they would say no. And especially since you have known them for so long. It should be an honor. Feel free to fm me if you need to vent.

Wow that is crazy.. I have never heard of people saying no. I am so sorry.
I know how you feel about being screwed over by people. I feel like I am always giving everything to EVERYONE and always bending over backwards for them, and I never get anything like that in return from them. It is so frustrating.

I am so sorry you had to go through that. I am not having a BP because my family and friends are all drama kings and queens. I felt for my peace of mind if I made everyone guest I will enjoy the engagement, the planning, and the wedding a very happy lady. Remember this is about you and your FH and the life the both of you are going to have together. I just want you to know your are not alone there are many of us planning the wedding without a BP and we will help you plan yours. So stay strong and you can FM me and if you want to talk offline I will give you my numbers.

You will have a beautiful wedding.

Thank you girls so much for your responses. It makes me feel good that I have all of you to talk to and to share my wedding plans with. I do have 2 other bridesmaids who did say Yes and I am happy about that but the 2 that I have known the longest and have been the closest too saying No, is a little surprising and hurtful.

I am 38 years old and this is my first marriage. My friends are older too and married, so maybe they are jaded already and don't remember the excitement of planning a wedding.

Don't let this put a damper on your experience, your planning, your big day, your life with fh. Things happen. People make choices without realizing how hurtful they can be. Although I know it's tough, try not to take it personally. Look around you and see all the wonderful things and people in your life!!! Your wedding will be perfect!!!!!

I am sorry you are going thru this. My best friend of 18 years said she couldnt come out as a BM because her BF did not want her walking out with another guy, her BF of 6 months. So if you need to talk I am DEF DEF here and completely understand you and your frustration

That is terrible!!!! I am so sorry. In reality all you are asking them to do is buy a dress, hold some flowers and walk in a straight line... especially since you did it for them you would think they would return the courtesy!!!

That's just SAD. Maybe it's a good time to distance yourself from the so called friends. I understand times are tough but if you can sacrifice to be there for them and blessed events, they should absolutely do the same for you.

I always think its so awkward to say NO unless its followed by something like I really don't want to commit to this b/c there is really so much going on (personally or financially), but I will still be there for you.'
I hope you take this as a sign to take a step back from being their support and reavulate your friendship. I'm sure they are happy for you, but perhaps they just can't be so involved and that wouldn't be fair to you anyway.

I am really sorry- but wouldn't you rather then say no then accept and not participate at all?

I only have a few female friends for the same reason; so I know you how fee.

So sorry again!

ITA... I'm sorry that they declined! But I do think it's better that they be honest with you now rather then drop out up the road or be difficult to deal with during the process.
