Wedding picture locations

Wedding picture locations

We are getting married 12/15/02. We are having some pictures taken before the wedding. We have the limo and photographer coming at 12:30 and church is at 3:00 at St. Barnabas in Bellmore. My question is does anyone know of anypleace maybe in Long Island City or Queens where we can take some outdoor pics (weather permitting) with the city as a backdrop. I really don't want to go all the way into the city or over any bridges because you never know with traffic and since it is a Sunday, we absolutly can not be late for church. Any suggestions would be great

What about the Queens Botanical Garden? I know they have weddings there so maybe you could just take pictures there too. That would be beautiful. This is their link...

Re: Wedding picture locations

My mom works in a restaurant/catering hall on the water in LIC. She told me once that the brides take pictures on pier on the water overlooking nyc. I will see if she has a specific name of the pier or place. There is a golf port right there too. I will see what I can find out.

Also what about somewhere in Astoria Park? There is water and lots of park. I am not sure though if you can get nyc in the background.

Just spoke with my mom. It is the Tennis Port not golf port in LIC. It is on the water with a definte view of the nyc. She is not sure if they will charge you (but it should not be much money). The only thing is she knows they sold to the company that is doing construction in that area (all the new apartment buildings)..so she is not sure how long they are going to be around...she said it could be six months or even a year!

Since I'm from Astoria, Astoria Park -- if the photographer does it right, you can get some of the city as a background. My friend did her pictures there and they came out really nice.

But can I ask you a question? Your profile says your reception is at Coral House and since your church is in Bellmore, do you have enough time to come all the way in to Queens to take pictures and then go all the way back to the island? Especially with traffic on the LIE and every other parkway!

I have another suggestion in Queens -- by Fort Totten in Bayside (off the Cross Island Parkway). You can get the Throgs Neck & Whitestone Bridge as background and the ships, etc.

The Botantical Gardens is another nice spot, but you would have to find out what time they close in December.

Re: Wedding picture locations

bearsbabe_13 .. thanks for all the info. We are having pictures of us and wedding party taken before the ceremony. The photographer and limos are coming at 12:30, and the church is at 3:00. I was looking for a place in Queens hopeing that it would not take too long to get there, but we would have to check the traffic that day to see if possible. We are doing a 'winter in NY' theme and I thought it would be nice to get some pics with the city as the backdrop.
