Wedding Registry
Do you ladies think it's rude to not have a wedding registry? FH and I have everything that we need and would prefer to get money.

I think a lot of older people will be disappointed if there wasn't a registry that they could buy you stuff from for your bridal shower. What about doing a honeyfund so that they can get you things for your honeymoon? At least then they will have specific things to get you.

I would think about upgrading some things you currently have (you can donate your old items) and do a honeymoon registry. This is the time in your lives when people want to give you some kind of gift to help celebrate. My parents thought it was weird that FH and I didn't have a registry done for our engagement party. When I told my father we'd prefer money, he thought that was kinda rude. It may have been the way I said it or that his friend was over when I said it.

Is there a difference between the wedding and bridal registry? Is it suppose to have different things on it?

Look into upgrades. FH and I struggled with a registry so I understand your frustration. A shower is given to receive gifts so make a small one and then delete it before your wedding. If you don't have a registry you might receive random gifts and it will be a bigger hassel to return/exchange.

I think a registry is expected for a bridal shower.
Since we are in NY, majority of the people give cash so don't worry about it.

This is true. I did most of my registry with them online and when we got a lot of the gifts I ended up hating them (poor quality, not what I was looking for, decided I dont need it). They give cash refunds no questions asked as long as the guests bought it using your registry number. Macy's on the other hand was a nightmare with returns...

Thanks for confirming that. Was it hard doing your registry online? Do I need to go to the store?

Doing the actual registry online was easy. The selection is great and the site is user friendly. The only reason I would suggest going to the store if you can is because you can get such a better idea of the products if you see them in person. So many of the things I registered for ended up not being what I expected. I read descriptions and reviews carefully but for certain things I really wish I saw the options in person before registering.

Doing a Bed and Bath registry for my shower. I only registered towels, sheets, linens, poshy bath products and lingere(nothing too racy) on Etsy and BB&B. I registered only stuff that wears out because I dont cook and we have NO ROOM for stuff! LOL Totally registered online. So easy.

We registered at BB&B for the bridal shower. I have never been to a wedding where people brought gifts other than money. I went into the store to register and had alot of fun. The registry man at the WB store was awesome!

Agreed...register for thing you would never buy for yourself (i.e. fine china, chrystal, new dishes, serving ware)
Def keep it small!

I love the idea of a 'honey fund' there is the thing about yes people will want to get you bridal party gifts but I'm sure you can work around it! Don't register and if people get you things I'm sure they will give a gift receipt just incase you already have it and you can always return it. It sounds rude but it's better that the money goes to something useful rather than having 10 blenders in the closet :)
