Wedding rings: straight or curved, soldered or not?
FH and I started looking for wedding rings and I am getting confused already! Wanted to see what you all were doing...
My engagement ring is a large diamond offset by two rubies. I don't want any wedding ring that would take away from that. Also, my fingers are very skinny so I want a thin band.
My original thought was a slightly curved band that contours the stones in my e-ring. Has anyone done this? If so, did or will you get it soldered to the e-ring after the wedding? One jeweler encouraged me to do this so the rings stay together in the perfect shape. It sounded like a good idea at first, but then I thought, what if I want to just wear the wedding band without the e-ring, like when I'm at the beach or playing sports??
If I go with a straight ring, it doesn't countour to my e-ring as nicely, but I can probably wear it alone and not have it soldered to the e-ring...
Of course, there is also the option of getting a curved ring and just not soldering it...
Any thoughts???

My e ring is a weird shape- I am having a diamond band made to fit it and curve aroung it. Although I will not be able to wear it alone because it would look funny, I am not having them soldered together. I am getting another plain wedding band to wear in case I do not feel like wearing my e ring.

Two wedding bands? Wow. Wish that were in our budget, but, unfortunately, it's not. I sort of have to choose curved or straight and that will be THE ring.
Thanks, though.

What about wearing your wedding rings on your left hand? I have a large E ring, and I wanted a diamond channel set wedding band...however, the band would not sit against the ring, it didn't looks so nice. So, instead I got three wedding bands that I wear on one hand, and my e-ring I wear on the other. I like it because I still have the simplicity of the e-ring.

DO NOT souder (sp?) your rings together!!!!! You will want to wear your band alone at times!
Your jeweler should be able to match your ering and your wedding band perfectly, if not have it custom made. I am and it will not only match my ering but it will sit against my ering nicely.

Kathy...did you go to Mary Washington College? My friend Aaron went there...graduated in '95. I was actually just on campus last week doing some recruiting! It's so pretty!
Jenn and others...thanks for the advice. I am not actually getting my wedding band at the same place as where FH got my e-ring, so the jeweler doesn't know exactly how to best match it. Plus, we're on a budget...
I'm leaning towards not getting it soldered, regardless of whether I go curved or straight. But I was told the curved might look weird worn alone...??

A plain, gold band would not be that expensive (if you wanted to get 2). My second will actually be by great grandmothers.

Oh, that is so nice!
What do you think it would cost to get a second ring, ballpark estimate? I just don't think it's in our budget right now...
so confused!

My e-ring is very thick and chunky and I was hopeing to get a band to wear both rings together.
well, after about 3 weeks of searching and a swollen ring finger from taking rings off and on, I came to terms with the fact that that wasn't happening...nothing looked right with the ring.. so I got a wedding band for my left hand and the e-ring i will wear on my right hand.. I can't wait.. I have to get clearer pics of my new wedding band.. but it's big long baguettes going across with 12 round pringed stones going across the top and bottom..
I TOTALLY went over budget with my wedding band, but that's ok.. it's something I will wear forever..
