Wedding Shops in Brooklyn
Hello everyone, as posted before, I ordered my dress from Saymel's, so I am researching dress shops again. Has anyone heard of Barbie's, Dana Ree, Valentine and Doris. These shops are in Brooklyn on 86th Street. Any input will be helpful. Thanks!

Hope this helps.
Barbie`s: bridesmaid dresses were from there. Most of the girls had them altered elsewhere, but they were fine. Dana Ree: ?? Valentino: I went there to try on dresses. Small place. I did find a dress I liked, but I ended up going to Kleinfelds Doris: ??

I bought my prom dress from a store called Valentinos on 86th Street. I did not think they sold Bridal gowns. Ive looked into Barbies but I found the salesstaff to be pretty terrible and rude - not to mention weird.

Did you buy your dress here? It looks like I am going to have to go to Long Island to find a dress. Would you know of any stores that carry larger sizes? Thanks.

Why go to more trouble?
If you fell in love with a particular dress at Saymel's and happen to know the designer, might it be possible to order that dress directly from the manuf. save money and stress of going to yet more bridal salons? I actually am getting my dress custom made. It's yet another option and you most likely already know exactly what you want the dress to look like. -A

Im pretty sure my dress wasnt a designer. I only paid about 800 dollars for it. I also checked the receipt and there wasnt any number for a warehouse.

Boosh - dress pics on the web!
can you check up on wedding dress websites like maybe theknot.com's dress pictures and see if you can find a dress similar to the one you bought at Saymel's? then you might be able to call that manufacturer or go straight to the stores that sell that dress and not bother going to stores and spending lots of time trying on tons of dresses just a thought good luck! -A

I bought my dress in Valentina`s on New Utrecht Avenue. The sales staff was helpful and they had a great selection. Hope this helps.

I did buy my dress there!
Long story but I fell in love with a dress from Kleinfelds that was way too much $$$$ After visiting many stores, I went to Bridal Reflections and tried on another 20 dresse (at least!). Even thought they were all beatiful, I had my heart set on the Kleinfeld one. Bridal Reflections was able to get that dress for $1K less! It was still expensive but Im glad I went there. What size are you? Im a 14 in street clothes and was able to zip up well enough to get a good idea of what the dress will look like in my size. I don't think they carry plus size samples but Im not sure.

If you're a size 16 then you should be fine with most dresses. If you want a shealth sort of dress that may be a problem b/c the smaller sizes aren't that forgiving. But if you want something aline or ball gown - then they will use these elastic things on the back so from the front you can barely tell it doesn't fit you!
