Wedding Shower

Wedding Shower

Well my mom is starting to plan mine (but its a suprise but she kept bugging me for a list of the people we are inviting to the wedding along with all the wife's names which I had done months ago but she lost).

I realized I am inviting 133 people now and only 28 of them would be invited to the shower because many of FH's family is out of state and I have no female friends except for one. I work with two guys so there are no co workers to invite.

I kinda feel silly having such a small shower because i see people who are having two showers on the 07 board or even a huge catering hall shower for like 100 people.

What do you think is a small shower appropraite or just dumb.. I just feel bad having my mother spend money on something and maybe 15 will show up

I feel sad now

Re: Wedding Shower

my FSIL did a small shower at her house. her sister in law set everything up and had about 20-30 people there..they did a couple games and everyone had a fun time...my FMIL cooked a bunch of food so there wasn't the added expense of a caterer...perhaps that's an option if you want to save your mom $$? mine will probably be a small gathering at my parents' house or maybe at a restaurant..i always thought showers were small..i was surprised and intrigued when i saw that people on here were having ones at catering halls..that's so cool! but i don't think i'd have enough people or $$ for it...

Re: Wedding Shower

I wont have more than 30 people at my shower either. (if that). I always though bridal showers were just supposed to be close friends and family.

Re: Wedding Shower

i would love to have a small shower! that will not happen for me since i have such a big family, but i think a small shower is much more personable and laid back. that is what i would like, personally. i wouldnt feel silly.

Re: Wedding Shower

I'm with you - I'm only having 80 people at my wedding, so that's what, 40 women? And at least 15 live out of town. So that's 25 people who could come to my shower IF they all say yes. Whatever. I'd rather spend a day hanging out with 25 women I love than a day watching TV on my couch.

I will probably only be inviting 35 to mine. I like the intimacy of that size.

Re: Wedding Shower

i like small showers better than the big ones because you everyone participates in the games and talk to each other. in big showers, i notice that a lot would just mingle on their own little circle.

Re: Wedding Shower

Don't feel sad. I prefer a small shower. I am only inviting close friends and relatives to my shower.

Re: Wedding Shower

my mom is most likely planning my shower cause my MOH's are my sisters who are only ging to be 20 and 18 yrs old so they are not going to be able to set up the whole thing and afford it

but i always thought showers were small you know....but after going to my FH's SIL's shower last year I was like HOLY COW...she had assigned seating like a wedding and in a really nice resturant and it had to be expensive....but I am not into that and I dont want a mini wedding

Plus...it is your wedding who cares how big your shower is or not...the only thing that may be true is you dont get as much off your registry because you have less people but i dont even know if that is true!!

YAH for small showers haha

Re: Wedding Shower

I think you willbe fine. I can relate though. My family is out of state. My friends are here though and his family too. So most likely my bridal shower will be small, mainly my close friends and his side of the famliy, hopefully my mom will be here for it.
