Wedding Stress?

Rant- I really don't know where else to post this so here it goes. I recently got laid off and am now 9 months out from our wedding, almost half of the wedding has been paid for so it's too late to turn back now. The unemployment I'm getting is going to be barely enough to cover my expenses let alone save for the wedding. I am trying to stay positive but I'm so worried that we won't be able to afford to pay for the rest of the wedding my FH is doing all he can and is working OT and doing anything else he can to help. I'm so torn with being happy about getting married and being concerned about money. My grandma thinks I should ask my Dad for a loan but since he's contributed so much already (10k), I feel really guilty about asking him for anymore. Thoughts?

Wedding Stress?

Aww, so sorry you're dealing with this! I know how you feel, I lost my job last October and was lucky enough to find a new job within a month. I say if you know your dad has the money to loan you, it wouldn't be the worst thing. You're not asking for a hand-out, it's a loan you intend to eventually pay back. Big hugs!! So sorry you have to deal with this 9 months before your wedding!

Wedding Stress?

So sorry to hear sweetie you're going through this. I understand your father has contributed towards your wedding but I am sure if you were to ask him for a loan I really don't see him saying know especially to his little girl. At least you have unemployment to help which is better than nothing and you never know what job you may find in between. Easier said than done but stay positive. Things always have a way of working themselves out. Where one door closes another opens. Trust me! Big hug!

Wedding Stress?

That sounds so stressful- I'm sorry you're going through this. One of the things I realized before my wedding is that the most important thing was to celebrate with my friends and family- and the little details that had seemed so important months before really aren't what matters. What matters is the love and happiness that you and your FH are sharing and that the people that matter most to you two are with you to celebrate your committment. (I'm not usually this cheesy, but it's true. :) Are there any ways you can cut costs on the wedding at this point? LI weddings are crazy expensive but there are definitely ways to keep costs down and still have a beautiful and elegant wedding- not having wedding favors (we didn't, and no one cared), DIY invitations or centerpieces, not going crazy with the flowers, having a family friend officiate instead of hiring an officiant, etc.

Also, what about having some of your wedding gifts go towards the cost of the wedding? Honeyfunds are getting fairly well established- we did one and it was AMAZING, and none of our guests thought it was tacky (that we know of!) so what about asking guests to contribute to your special day, if they're comfortable with that?

Good luck! Your wedding will be amazing no matter what!
