How many of you are writing your own wedding vows or wrote your own wedding vows? How was it?

We wrote our vows together and used the same ones. We both did a little research on what we wanted to write and this is what we came up with:
I (name) choose you (name) to be my eternal partner in life,
and to you I promise this:
I will be your comrade in adventure,
your ally in conflict,
your student and your teacher.
I will be your strength in need,
your understanding in confusion,
your consolation in disappointment,
your greatest fan and your sincerest critic.
I will be your lover and companion,
your partner in parenthood,
but most of all, I will be your friend.
From this day forward you shall never again walk alone,
for my heart will be your shelter, and my arms will be your home.
I promise this to you in a commitment made in love, kept in faith, and eternally made new
As I give to you now my hand to hold, I give to you my life to keep.
I highly recomend writing your own vows!!!!

I'm using the same vows that have been recited over and over for ages-Honestly, FH is not much of a writer or I would consider writing our own!

were wrote our won vows as well, havent done them yet though... it was hard, but I think well worth it. i read a lot of love poems and took lines I liked as an inspiration and changed them around, and other lines I just wrote from the heart, it was actually very easy
we each wrote our own...without letting each other know what we wrote...it really made our ceremony special!!!
I wrote mine and FH wrote his. I followed the general idea of what they (meaning church or court or whatever) and stuck to that general idea. Then if you look around the net, they tell you to ask yourself questions, like: How did you kow he was the one? What made you love him? Stuff like that. I wrote down things I would think of during the days and weeks, then compiled themand came up with a paragraph. It was pretty easy. And FH did his in one day!
Thanks for all of your advice. I just wrote something, with all of your help. FH and I are going to share our vows with each other tomorrow night. I can't wait! So excited....
