wedding wands.....

for those making their own or who made their own, where did you get the stick from? Do they sell them in Michaels or AC Moore or did you find them cheaper online?

TIA

ETA: also how long are the sticks?

Re: wedding wands.....

I ordered balloon sticks on line.
they haven't come in the mail yet so i don't know how they will turn out.
but they were cheep ( i think 4$ for 100) and the perfect size (12 in)

I am planing on just tying the ribbon i bought around it and maybe putting dab of hot glue to keep it in place.

Re: wedding wands.....

Michaels sells thin wooden dowls. I have a package for sale if you want. I planned to use them for my flowergirls pinwheels but went with a thicker want. Lmk!

Wedding wands, or ribbon wands, are essentially a stick with colored ribbon attached to the end. People wave them as the bride and groom come out of the church in lieu of bubbles or bird seed or rose petals which not all churches allow anyway. You can order then on etsy.com but I thought it might be cheaper to DIY.

Re: wedding wands.....

AC Moore sells them for a kit of 24 already made that costs $25.00. They are only white ribbons though. I used a 50% off coupon when I went.

Re: wedding wands.....

We got a pack of pr cut dowels at Michaels...they came in packs of 50

We screwed an eye hook in one need

Then spray painted the dowel silver

Then I tied 3 ribbons if different colors, double knotting through the eye hook

Re: wedding wands.....

How long was each ribbon? What type of ribbon did you use? I think I want to do this. Less messy than petals and stuff.

I've been trying to figure out what length of ribbon would look good and flow well.

I really liked how these turned out!

Thanks for the pic!

Re: wedding wands.....

I got thin ribbon at AC Moore. On sale, each spool is about .33. The ribbon was like 1/4' thick maybe? I used three colors on each ribbon stick, always using the two wedding colors then adding a third color for a pop....we used orange and pink

Each ribbon was cut at about 36', since it will be half that in the stick ( if you tie it in the middle) and we double knotted them
