Weight goals...

Original post by dancinmyazoff

First here's a little 'Scale Humor'...

This can be kind of a motivational thread. Would anyone like to share their weight goals, concerns, etc.? I'd like to loose 14 lbs. I'm not setting a concrete time frame for myself because otherwise I tend to overdo things but I'm hoping to be at my goal by this summer. I think that's kind of reasonable.

Oh i wish i had it on me, but i had this great article, i think its at fh's house that i used to look at all the time...It was 12 foods you should eat all the time...THere are some foods that help break down fat and different things like this, its good to do research.

Here are some things i used to eat and tips:

Tunafish-but with no mayo, i used green onions lemon and mustard

Oranges are a GREAT snack for in between meals, it fills you up and holds you over until your next meal

LOTS of grilled chicken lol, grilled chicken salad, grilled chicken with veggies, grilled chicken sandwich on whole wheat lol

I used to also make whole wheat pita with grilled chicken, peppers and red onions

-Egg whites, the eggwhite wraps are great

- i know i said tuna already but when i was out and would eat, i would always eat tuna melts and with soup, and it actually was great.

-turkey cutlets, turkey burgers

i also bought organic chicken coldcuts for sandwiches it was great.

Sometimes i would make whole wheat pasta with organic sauce-believe it or not the sauce was sooo delicious

-they say to eat lots of beans, its real good for you...Peanuts are a good snack too.

And sometimes when i craved something i would ONLY take like a bite out of it lol, if there was cake i would have one big bite lol

Infact that nutritionist from celebrity fit club wrote a book its called 'fat smash diet' he says to do things like that...Like have a grilled chicken salad and get half a plate of fries...EVERYONE says how great that book is and people lose alot of weight.

Great Food rec's Denise.

Ok, so I've always been heavy so my goal is to just get to the weight I was when I started seeing FH. I'd definately be able to do that this year. Luckily I have till almost the end of '08 to loose weight!

Well, I have a lot more work to do than most of you girls, but I think I can do it. I've struggled all my life with weight, but never really tried too hard to loose it because my family is all overweight. I just kept telling myself that it was genetic. Well, ever since I got engaged, I have been really trying hard! I don't really know what I weigh right now, but the last time I went to the doc's I was 222. My goal is to get down to 150-160. I know I have already lost weight since my last doc visit, but I haven't weighed myself. My mother and I started a diet a few weeks ago, and I have been doing really well on it. Monday we start our workouts. We are going to be doing a mix of 'walk away the pounds' tapes and 'windsor pilates' tapes in the morning, and then I play DDR on playstation at night. That really gets me going! I love a FUN workout. I know I have a lot of work ahead of me, but with support and determination....I know I can do it!

You definitely could do it...When i was losing weight i would think of an event i had coming up, or even just going out that weekend, going to the beach or whatever, and i would think hmmm should i eat this now and feel horrible about myself later, or not eat it and then feel and look great the way i want to when i go out...Good luck

Re: Weight goals...

I started Weight Watchers 2 weeks ago. I have a siginificant ammount of weight to lose but I am not stressing over it. The more I can lose before I get married the better but I am really looking for a life change rather than just looking good on my wedding day.

But I would love to be smoking hot on my wedding day!!

ETA: Good luck to everyone. If you have 5 pounds or 105 pounds to lose it's not easy! Find something that works and stick with it!

Re: Weight goals...

i dont want to lose weight i just want to tone up- it is so sad bc someone at my weight SHOULD look great in ANYTHING but it looks pretty disgusting under all these clothes. . . sometimes i want to like strip everything off and show people when they say ' you are so skinny'

of course i am not trying to minimize the struggle of girls who are overweight, i know what a challenge that can be. . . but you can definitely be under weight and unhappy with your body like i am

i always say, my wedding dress will hide what i dont like but i have to wear a bikini soon after!

unfortunately/fortunately if i am stressed i drop weight like crazy. . . so i have to watch out about that closer to the wedding - i hate the way my face looks when i drop down too much . . . very unhealthy

in the summer i walk a few times a week, in the winter i try to do exercise on demand but i am pretty bad with that. . . during the week i eat pretty good i just have to watch myself on the weekends!

Re: Weight goals...

i used to do similar to what Denise was talking about....i used to be soooo good about going to the gym, i would also go at least 4-6 times during the week, once you go so often it just becomes second nature...but, then when my schedule got busy i couldnt go as much. I go to a 24 hour gym, so i sometimes would try to go in the AM when i didnt have time to go after work. (it was hard getting up early at first...5am, but again, after a while, it became a routine). Since i got engaged i have been slacking big time! i have not gone to the gym since the holidays!! i sometimes do a workout at home though, i do weight circuits....ie: alternate weightlifting with cardio.

I would recommend....it is best to combine weight lifting with cardio. The more muscle you build, the faster your metabolism will become. You might gain a little weight from lifting weights, but you WILL lose inches! and you will become very toned! trust me, you will notice a difference! If you just do cardio you will lose weight, but your body will look the same, only smaller....so strength training is a must!!

Also...if you start working out a lot...make sure you are eating enough! Otherwise...your body will have to start breaking down muscle to get it's energy....you should be eating at least 1500 calories a day if you are exercising! maybe more....it depends on your weight really....there are calculators online to figure out how many caloires oer day for your activity level. Try fitness magazine website...they have good calculators.

Food recommendations....again, if you are working out you need to be eating a good ratio or proteins to carbs. DO NOT avoid carbs! you will need them to fuel your workouts. A good snack is a mixture of the two...
ie: apple and peanut butter, almonds and apple, cottage cheese with granola/whole grain cereal in it) whole grains are the best carbs. airpopped popcorn is a good one, egg whites are great b/c they have lots of protein and no cholesterol, grilled chicken, oatmeal with no added sugar (it's good with fruit in it for flavor) lean turkey meat instead of beef to make meatballs/meatoaf, whole wheat pasta, brown rice, steamed veggies, oh.....and olive oil is real good for you! it lowers your cholesterol, so do almonds! I would also avoid too much sugar and bleached flour.

I get very into this health stuff....i could go on and on....i need to get back on the bandwagon too...it's easy to fall off, but once you get started, after a few weeks...you will notice a HUGE difference!! you will have TONS of energy, and you will want to excercise....and your body will not crave all the sugar and junk!

i dont really have a goal weight either....i too, just want to tone up, i am sometimes actually heavier when i am most in shape b/c of the muscle. i just want to be a little leaner. I love the way my arms look when they are toned! which will be so important to me if i get a strapless dress!
