Weird situation about invites....LONG

Weird situation about invites....LONG

I did something stupid and now I don't think I can take it back. Here the situation:

I take the train (LIRR) with a bunch of people every single day. Well, they have asked and heard the ins and outs of the wedding since I was engaged. I dont see all of these people outside the train, so when invite time came around I only invited a few. The ones I really consider 'friends' and would speak to if they stopped taking the train. No one else seemed to mind or was insulted because I'm not even sure they knew.

Lately, there have been 2 people that I talk to alot and I felt bad not inviting them. So stupid me - BEFORE- discussing with my FH asks them for their addresses...Of course one says - why?? why do you need my address? DUMB me says- 'Oh, for the wedding.' I almost threw up after I said it, because I'm not even sure I can invite them...we are hoping for some more 'NOs'

Anyway, I get home and tell my FH who seems really PO'd at me for telling 2 people on the train that I NEVER hang out with outside the train and because a wedding is supposed to be for good friends and family - NOT ACQUAINTANCES. Because now it will be 4 more people on the list and he doesn't know them at all and it's not like its cheap pp.

What would you do? I feel like a big JERK!!!!

One is married, so I'll have to invite his wife, but the other is a single girl who invites her mother to everything with her....Can I just invite her alone? I feel rude doing so, but I really don't want her showing up with her mom.

Don't worry, maybe they won't come...or you might get more no's. Don't sweat it.

if you are going to see these people on a regular basis, i would invite them now and hope they won't come and/or you get some addtional 'no's' elsewhere...

i have done similar open mouth insert feets, and so has my mother , we plan on just inviting them and what will be will be...

Just like you dont want to pay the p/p fee for people you dont really know - I am sure they do not want to feel 'obligated' to give you $$ in a card and be at a wedding with no one that they know but other people from the train .. lol think about it that would be a little weird. Im pretty sure if you dont invited them with a guest... they will decline anyway.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I think that if they asked why you asked for their address, they weren't expecting an invite from you, so they might not even show up.

just invite them to the church - that is what i am planning on doing for people that i don't know too well - no obligation for a gift - I will probably make invitations from staples- the ceremony important part - JMO

Now that you said it, I'd say you have to invite them. I'm sure you'll get some more no's. Plus, they'll probably give you gifts to cover their platses. Its a tough situation - good luck.
