EVERY TIME! When FH forgets I make him drop whatever he's doing (even if it's sleeping) to go flush it. I can't take nasty habits like that..EWWWWWWW

Ok, and if you want to save water, just fill a plastic milk gallon with water and put it in the toilet tank..that makes less water come out or something every time you flush

I am so surprised by the results! I' ve never heard of anyone NOT flushing every single time.
I guess you learn something new every day!!

I am so grossed out that so many people DON'T flush every time!

Every single time, whether i'm throwing a q-tip in there, or whether it's just been used!

thank god FH does too!

DH even flushes when I just throw a tissue in there! I think he's afraid something is going to come up from behind the tissue and bite him in the butt!

Call me naive, but I didnt think flushing was an option. Basic cleanliness, you go, flush it, end of story. Thats even more disgusting than leaving dishes in the sink for a couple of days.

what is the purpose of not flushing... does it really save THAT much water??? anyone notice a difference on their bills or something???

eta: the dog sometimes gets into the b-room and tries to drink out of the toilet... can't always stop her in time... but what if someone didn't flush, and then she went in to get a drink then came running out to give you a big wet kiss.......EWWWWWWWW

I'm actually surprised this post is still around. I posted it more as a joke for DH and I. This did tempt me to do a little bit of research though and this is what I found:

Toilets
Toilets use the most water indoors, with an average of 27 gallons per person per day.

What Can I Do?
Install a displacement device to lessen the amount of water that is flushed

Install a ultra low-flow toilet that requires just 1.6 gallons (6 liters) per flush.

Check toilets periodically for leaks and repair them promptly.

Reduce tank capacity by placing a one-gallon jug of water or gravel or 2-1 quart bottles in the tank.

Install a dam or partition so that one side of the tank can't fill with water.

Don't use the toilet as a trash can.

So, for those of you that DON'T flush for water conservation purposes, there are other, more sanitary options.
