Well im in Florida and...

Im actually thinking of moving here. My SIL just moved here and they have a beautiful home. 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms the bedroom in the master bedroom is the size of my bedroom at home. Inground pool with hot tub attached. Much nicer then the APT. they lived in in Bayside Queens with their 4 kids. My DH whole family is here and my brother lives about 20 minutes away from her. The only problem is my mom. My dad is ready to move but my mom hates florida doesnt want to live here and says she has 7 years till she can retire. I wouldn't want to leave her especially if I want to have kids soon. I see what she goes through not being able to see my brothers son that often. We have been looking in houses only in my SIL complex. I will post some.


I am going to take pics of her house and post them as well. You get so much more house here then you get in NY for the same price.

This one is about 5 houses down from my SIL its on the canal.. Canal

We where here like 2 weeks ago and I was like no way. but now I see some of the houses and I see all my sil has and i think im ready. Its not like we have great jobs. My DH works for Cablevision and I work in a Supermarket for the time being. We could probably find better jobs here. My SIL said she could get me into the school district where she works 12.00 to start.


I am being held back by my mom though. Im so stuck. I don't know what to do.

Just kidding.

After all the hurricanes that hit practically every part of Fla...I don't know. And..I hate the humidity. But they are lovely houses.
Kristin if your bro and in-laws are down there then why not?

Will your house insurance be sky high, though?

Mary Mikes father and mother just bought a new place and their insurance isn't really that bad. This was the first year in a long time that the hurricane where so bad and so many. Just the houses here are so nice. The area they are in got missed from all the hurricanes and they have no damage. Not saying they wont have damage in the future but...


We would get help ($$$ ) but only if we moved here.

I did it, dh and me moved to miami and we love it! the weather is nice and the life style is very different. We think we are going to be able to buy a house in 2 years.
The whole family from both sides stayed in NY, but is not that bad, we found great jobs and believe or not, we are making more money.
I don't think is a crazy idea, I think Florida is more affordable in many many ways, NY is very expensive.
