Well, it looks like we're going to go on with the Wedding...

I talked to my fiance and my mother and we'll find a way to pay for it. We're too involved physically and emotionally to back out now. I am really determined to do what I have to. It'll be worth it!

try..

when I signed up for www.theknot.com they sent me a box of wedding books, etc. Inside was a loan application for a bank for upto $25K. I threw it out, but you could go to the website to find out. Im sure you could check your local bank too.

Go for it!! (WAY long...)

I was hoping you would! I'm glad for you. I refrained from responding to your original post b/c I didn't want to start comparing sob stories... But now that I know that you are going ahead... We've had a similar situation - FH's business went under a few weeks after he proposed (back in February) - and even before then, the business was not bringing in $, and I was student teaching and had no income myself. (and we live together & pay NYC rent!) WHen he proposed he thought he saw a light at the end of the tunnel, but to no avail. WEll, now I'm teaching and have an actaul salary (if that's what you'd call it) but he still has nothing. Months ago we were just very optimistic about our situation so we went ahead and booked most of our vendors. Then we got our second hit - FH's father was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. So, this has been our life since we became engaged - struggling financially and dealing with his dad - never knowing if we'll have to cancel or move the wedding for one reason or the other. We, like you, considered scaling down or postponing (or even moving the wedding up) - but our decision remains to go ahead with our original plans. I feel incredibly irresponsible, but my feelings are that in 5 years we'll be ok - this won't last forever, and I don't want to look back and regret not getting married the way I want to and have always dreamed of. I recently bought my gown - which was much more $ that I wanted - but in 5 years, will I really miss the extra that I spent? Probably not - and I'll LOVE looking back on my pictures and watching my video. THis is not to say that I haven't kept what's most important in mind - our family's health and being married to the man of my dreams... But we only live once and I don't want to regret anything!! SO - congrats on your decision, and good luck with your planning! ~s
